Spring 2017 Chat

Now that January is here, I thought I'd start a thread where we can support and encourage each other through our Spring semester, similar to our Fall thread, but with a bit more chit chat. What's your schedule look like? Any other goals you're working on?

I go back on the 17th, though I have a Phi Theta Kappa meeting on the 13th.

My schedule is:

A&P II

Microbio

Federal Government

World Religions

The last two are online.

Right now I'm trying to lose this holiday weight, so I've started running again (it burns). I graduate at the end of this year! In December I'll have my EMT-B certification and my Associates of Science in Biology. I'll also be applying to nursing school (application deadline is August 1), so it's going to be a really exciting (busy) year for me! I'm hoping to use my EMT-B cert to become an ED tech during the summers.

I look forward to chatting with you guys this semester!

I'm currently taking Intro to Chem, A&P II, and Microbio. I just got accepted into my local cc's program for the fall. I'm saving up for a collectible item I wanted for YEARS. I made a promise to myself that if I got into a nursing program, then I'll buy myself that item. This kept me motivated and now I'm looking forward to my treat! *_*

That's great, congratulations!

Yeah something similar happened to me... A friend in my class wanted me to text her a pic of my scantron from our take home exam. I just made up a bogus excuse about how my baby was fussy and I had to finish up all night and right before class so I couldn't send the text. Eek! Moochers are the worst!

I'm happy for all of you finishing your semester up. I've still got a little over two weeks to go so it feels like forever.

I got some complicated news news when trying to register for summer today, so my backup plan may become my primary plan. Trying not to get too bogged down in it either way. It will be great if it can work out for me to take these summer courses or it won't work, and that's okay too. Either way, I'm confident I'll be starting nursing school in spring. í ½í±

How's everybody else doing as we wrap up the semester?

Oh no! Is it a UTA issue?

My semester isn't over until the second week of May. My graduation date is May 10th, which is also the date of my last final. I still have a bit to go!

I submitted my application for the EMT program. I hope I can get in! I'm having a scheduling conflict with Med Term and they won't allow me to take it concurrently with the certification program.

I finally got my degree audit for UTA. I need to make some sort of decision soonish, though without the EMT program, maybe my decision will be made for me.

It is. They have a superficial hold on my account for my parking pass amount, that's supposed to be paid by my next disbursement. I need to send the community college my transcript to show I've completed a&p 1 so I can register for a course there in summer. UTA basically said well, you can pay it out of pockets or you can wait. If I had the money to pay it out of pocket, I wouldn't have deferred it to financial aid. But okayyyy. Hopefully the advisor at the community college can work some magic, I'd really rather go to UTA for upper level but I'm good either way.

Does one one of the programs require the emt class? I thought about doing one but it's four days a week for ten weeks in the summer so I would have to drop all those courses.

No, none of the programs I'm applying to require it, I just had an open semester and they hire EMT-B's around here for ER techs, so I figured it would be worth it. My CC only offers Med Term in person, and the only class open is the same time as my Chemistry class. I called and asked for permission to take it during the EMT course, because I have A&P I/II, Micro, Nutrition, etc, but he said no. Maybe I need to find another college to take it at.

I gotcha. I took a CNA class this semester for similar reasons, I've been trying to get in as a PCT at a partner facility but they take forever to hire.

UTA has a section from 5/22-7/14 I'm taking, they might have a second section in June start but I'm not sure. It's supposed to be really straightforward (and of course, counts if you take it here and end up going to NS here.)

What's the course #? I've been searching for a med term class with no luck!

You have to search under Dynamic Dated Sessions and the course is NURS 3309. Make sure you change the term to 2175 for summer.

You seriously saved me a lot of stress and a little bit of heartache! I'm all registered! Thanks so much

I'm glad I could help! And, you know, we may end up classmates when this is all over!
