I have some nursing students assisting me with my screenings. Does anyone have ideas on thanking them? My school has always done a tray of cookies, with juice and fruit. However, last year the instructor got upset with us providing treats AFTER the screenings were completed. This year, I have the same school sending me different students with the same instructor. I do not want their hard work to go without being noted.

Wow that is really awful that the instructor is like that! I wonder why?
I would just verbally thank them several times then, or print up a "thank you" certificate type of thing, (think Pintrest) because clearly if this instructor is mad about fruit, nothing will please them.

Why was she upset with providing treats after?
If they're coming in the morning, what about coffee and donuts, muffins, or bagels? And let them know you're providing as a thank you, so they don't eat before-hand?

I would call the instructor and let them know you plan on thanking them and would like to thank w/ fruit/cookies/drinks and ask for their thoughts.

Maybe a breakfast feast? So they won't be taking it home and can eat it there.

Wow, I was never thanked as a nursing student. I felt like the sites I went to were doing me a huge favor by mentoring me and I always got the nurses a "thank you" at the end of my rotation. My instructors always did as well. Strange that their instructor would not only expect something from you, but then tell you exactly what to thank them with?!

BWHAHHAHA!
I guess breakfast tacos are out of the question then.
There may be a reason that the instructor has a problem with the thank you...if you had a mind to, you could ask.

This may be an idiot question, but how do you go about setting up the students coming to help? Does your school provide additional screening equipment, or does the clinical facility send some equipment to help?

Usually there's some contractual relationship that's been blessed by both district and the nursing school. We only have the equipment we have; we train the students (or parent volunteers) how to use it.

How about personal letters of thank you with contact info and permission for you to used as a reference for potential new employers. Or a simple letter of recommendation they can use in a similar fashion.
