Jan 19, 20179 yr Hi!I am trying to figure out how to calculate this question but I am having a little trouble with the equation.Order: Zosyn 3.375 g in 50 mL NS to be infused over 15 minutesThe answer is: Flow rate: 200 mL/hour Any help is appreciated, thank you!
Jan 19, 20179 yr Admin First you need to pick out the pieces of information needed. Which pieces will need to go into your calculations?
Jan 19, 20179 yr You had help walking through your previous dosage question. Can you apply any of what you learned to this problem?
Jan 19, 20179 yr Your answer is right! But that's irrelevant. How did you come up with an answer and not have an equation or formula?
Jan 19, 20179 yr Admin Your answer is right! But that's irrelevant. How did you come up with an answer and not have an equation or formula? It looks like OP has an answer key.
Jan 19, 20179 yr Right... show her the equation Rose_Queen! hahaAre you suggesting that we should just provide the answer ro the OP?
Jan 19, 20179 yr Are you suggesting that we should just provide the answer ro the OP?Not quite. But for someone to show or teach her. As one of you guys had stated, this is a simple equation. But for some, this can be really a challenge. Them, getting the right support and guidance, they'll realize math in nursing isn't all that hard.

Them, getting the right support and guidance, they'll realize math in nursing isn't all that hard. Here's the thing, BenDover: OP has homework, thus OP has an instructor. Instructors should be teaching their students, not the Internet. If 3 different responders give the OP a way to solve the equation, they might very well show her 3 different ways to solve the equation. How confusing would that be?And I daresay that someone has already instructed OP, but it hasn't taken yet. That's why most of us advise homework seekers to go back to their instructors and ask for help/long-term, consistent tutoring, etc. That's also why it usually is not at all helpful for folks here to feed students the answers to their questions - it only delays the inevitable return to the instructor/school for some more consistent help.

However, we can best do this if she shows us what she has done.
Jan 19, 20179 yr Order: Zosyn 3.375 g in 50 mL NS to be infused over 15 minutesThe answer is: Flow rate: 200 mL/hour I'm assuming the actual question was something like, "How fast do you set the IV pump?"It's probably going to be helpful if you know what the actual question is before you start trying to think about how to solve it.Come on, now, OP, let's hear you think out loud on this. We are trying to help you. Put some effort into it here, let us hear how you think. Once we know that, then it's gonna be useful to show you where you're missing the critical thing, and only THEN should somebody show you how to do the problem. You have to know how to think about it first. You know.... give a man a fish ..."Mmmmmm, lessee now, I have to give __(amount)__ in 15minutes. So that means ..... "
