Jan 11, 201610 yr What are y'all NP's making these days? I am currently making 85k salary with my BSN. Someone told me I will not see a salary increase if I go to grad school as an ACNP. Thoughts???
Jan 11, 201610 yr It really depends on how much experience you have as an RN and what state you're in-but I would say that most NPs make more than 85K to start..
Jan 12, 201610 yr I think what many do not realize is if you have been a practicing nurse for quite some time, yes, you will be making some decent money BUT...the key is the experienced RN versus a NOVICE NP. A new RN does not make the same money as an experienced one...the same goes for NPs.
Jan 12, 201610 yr If I worked full-time = >$100K. What is your hourly rate x 40 hrs per week without shift diff OR weekend diff OR hours past 5 pm?
Jan 12, 201610 yr Thanks good thread. I am in the same boat but I'm halfway through NP school. If it's not better I'm just going to stay where I am.
Jan 15, 201610 yr I make more than twice what you do and never leave my desk. I'd say it's worth it to pursue NP certs.
Jan 15, 201610 yr Salaries are going to vary. You're comparing RN's from different specialties with different levels of experience vs NP's with different specialties with different levels of experience. On a broad spectrum, RN's can make $50-90k. They may even get into the low 100k area when you get to the Manager/Director status. NP's can make anywhere from $75k-200k. Some even more.So yes, if you're comparing your $85k RN job and land an $80k NP job...that wouldn't be the greatest thing financially. But if you end up getting an NP job for $125k and compare it to your $85k RN job..it seems like a no brainer.
Jan 17, 201610 yr Expert Well OldGuy - I'm the OldGirl and I don't make 170k - what the heck do you do????
Jan 17, 201610 yr Out of school in Miami most made 75-85k, which is what I made. I moved to California and make 115k. Likely with a little more experience I'll make more, but having state income tax cuts off ~12k of that out the door vs florida.
