Salary Offer

I have 18yrs experience as a nurse (BSN with Masters in Public Health). I’m moving back into civilian nursing after 17yrs in the military serving as a flight nurse. I'm considering a telemetry residency position at a local hospital. Just curious what I should expect for salary or what I should ask for. I've heard they may offer $30-33/hr. Is that fair with my experience?

Where are you located?

In some parts of the US, that might be fair. In Texas, for example, that would not be anywhere close to fair.

Location...some places yes, others, no

I'm in the St louis area

The websites I looked at for St Louis nursing salaries showed an average yearly salary of 55-60k. $30-33/hr would put you above that average, if you're working 40 hour work weeks ($33/hr is $66k yearly if you work 40 hours a week).

That looks about right from looking at various sites. Midwest doesn't equal super high pay. But also doesn't equal super high cost of living either. Try googling it and glassdoor, etc

I agree, that is about right for the Midwest just based on when I last worked in the Midwest about 4 years ago.

If it is a residency its likely geared to new grads and may pay lower.

I interviewed in that area within last 6 months and was offered $31/hr + shift diff etc (Children's). Needless to say, I didn't accept it, I make more than that and am established here (IN) in a slightly lower cost of living area

I am in the area and make $35/hr ish in one position and $39/hr ish in another with 8 years of nursing experience (this includes differentials for ICU experience and specialty roles).

Depends on the geography, I guess. For my area, that's not enough for 18 years experience.
