Could someone answer this for me... I'm taking the ADN program and was hoping to finish my BSN right after... While doing the BSN I wanted to work in Med Surg, and gain that experience to continue on for my master right after my BSN... I want to be a CRNA. I'm just curious is all this possible or do you have to work longer in Med Surg before you can apply for the CRNA program?

I think you might get more reliable info on the CRNA forum, but a friend of mine is working toward his CRNA, and the program he wants into requires two years of critical care (ICU or ER) experience. Don't know if that's an absolute requisite, or just prefered.

I would seriously consider why you want to become a CRNA. First and foremost almost all CRNA programs want critical care experience not med-surg. Most people are just interested in becoming a CRNA for the money. Take a look at the CRNA schools that you might be interested in going to online to see about each individual schools requirements. Got in with one try. :lol2: I'm planing to move back after my ADN program here in florida. I would like to finish my BSN in houston, and work in ICU or ER while i'm doing my BSN... Hopefully apply to a few CRNA school.

And the reason why I want to be a CRNA is because I love being in the OR room. Anything involving surgery is great for me... I really want to be a surgeon, but I looked into it and the years of training is just to long for me... People say you'll never be happy unless your doing something you love... Is that true? or is it a cliche...

The fastest way to turn off a CRNA when you are doing your shadowing is to talk about how much money you will make as a CRNA. There is nothing wrong with wanting to make a lot of money, but often times it is the only thing that people interested in becoming CRNAs know about being a CRNA is how much money they make.

If I remember right Walt Whitman was gay...that is a sterotype we, as a male nurses, have enough trouble with.

I'm a male nursing student, direct-entry MSN. You may remember me from other post complainng about student loans. :roll

I was inspired by my brother-in-law, who is completing his LPN.
