RN with stipulations

Published

Hello, I am a RN, in Texas, live in Austin, my license were revoked in July 2014, I have not practiced since April 2014. My License were reinstated and active in Nov 2016. I have applied for jobs and get discouraged. I have to have supervision, with other stips. Any advice on what to do?? Thanks

A couple of areas that are more forgiving/open to such matters? I suggest dialysis and for now perhaps nursing homes. Maybe not your first choice, but if you want to continue nursing, those are 2 areas that are a bit easier when it comes to stops/supervision.

Generally speaking, in dialysis you are flushing/packing lines. (So much more, but mostly no controlled substances). And Nursing homes have very few IVs, but even there you encounter controlled substances. LTAC is another avenue. But the higher the acuity, the more supervision and liability to the staff and facility. That is the view of the hiring parties. How do "we" reduce liability and risk.

Psych, if you have any UHS facilities in your area, they have psych and general hospitals..They are TPAPN and employment gap friendly. Best of luck.

I was approved for pediatric home health

I am in TPAPN and have been working in home health. Can you PM me for details?

Specializes in critical care, ER,ICU, CVSURG, CCU.

For me, working LTC, and obtains experience as MDS Coordinator was ny ticket, lots of data on DADs.com

nursing homes need the MDS assessment to get paid

it is usually M-f days job, and the DON is an RN ( thus your RN supv> and no medications to give...

afforded flexibility for UDS, and was a God sent blessing during those monitoring times....

best wishes

Can anyone point me towards any place hiring. 3 year stipulations for narc diversion, 1 year I cannot give controlled substances, need RN supervision and cannot work nights for 1 year. I would like to know of facilities that are hiring. Please PM me if possible. I don't care where the facility is located as long as it's in Texas. Thank you

Try the Austin State Supported Living Center. I worked there for 3 years, 2 of those years I was in TPAPN. There were other TPAPN nurses there with me. There are very few controlled substances given at that facility. Best of luck! I've been where you are and it sucks.

Specializes in ED RN and Case Manager.

I live in KY but have been in your shoes- same stipulations. I was able to find an RN Case Management/Utilization Review position in a hospital. They liked my extensive ED background for the ED Case Mgmt job yet the stipulations weren't an issue since the job didn't involve administering meds (or any direct patient care.
