Rescheduling CPNE

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Well I'm scheduled to take the CPNE next weekend in York PA and I'm not even close to ready. I thought I was but I truly am not. I want to give myself another month or two and attend a workshop and take a few of Excelsior's online conferences. I don't feel familiar enough with the structure or comfortable with the documentation. Anyway was just wondering if anyone had ever rescheduled this close to their date and if anyone recommends any of Excelsiors online conferences? Thanks guys!

You should call the school -- there are monetary penalties for rescheduling this close to your date. According to school policy, you could forfeit your entire fee:

Wow :( Thank you Lunah I'll give them a call in the morning, in the meantime guess I better hit the critical elements in the study guide again

It states that the CPNE exam fee will be forfeited 0-13 days prior to the scheduled exam. I would consider this an expensive workshop and go ahead and take this exam. Study as much as you can from now until then...wishing you the best.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have decided to just go on and give it a shot, I leave in the morning. I have a couple of last minute questions, I'm starting to stress over little details lol. Q's: when I first enter the patients room do I wash my hands then greet the patient or do I greet the patient then wash my hands? May I keep my grid in my scrub pocket or is there a place to set it thats ok with the CE? What books and papers am I allowed to bring with me? I'm sure I'll have more lol I appreciate any responses Thanks guys!

Good luck to you!!!!

What I did was wash my hands at the nurses station first, then knocked on the door and when I walked in I just gelled and went right into my intro. and 20 minutes. Just be sure to let your CE know that's what you are doing. My CE's actually washed their hands after me also.

You may keep your kardex/grid packet in your scrub pocket, but I just asked the CE where she would allow me to place my papers and she showed me. Easy as pie. Only allowed to bring Mosby's Nursing diagnosis and a drug book. No other books and no papers. Do bring your identification though.

Sweet!

It's been a few months since I flunked the CPNE, but I do remember some goodies from the CPNE, and I'm definitely rooting for you from afar. You have guts, and I like that!

Anyway, I would knock on the door, announce your arrival, open the door upon the patient's permission, introduce yourself and your examiner to the patient, and just chatter to the patient while you wash. I believe there was something under caring or emotional jeopardy that talked about this topic, saying that you should to greet customarily before worrying too much about getting too freakishly degermed.

You can keep your grid paper on your forehead if you want. Ask your examiners where you should keep it in case they don't want you putting it in some specific area for whatever reason. I kept mine in my pocket. I actually made my own scrubs for the event with huge ol' pockets.

You're allowed to bring a med book and a care plan book, if I remember correctly, but there are med books on the unit for you to use.

Don't get caught up in "greet or handwash?" order details. Get caught up in the details you think you'll never in a million years miss, like missing an initial on the MAR.

Good luck!!!!

Hi,

I received a test date 3 days ago that's couple of months away. I have until Oct 7th to accept/decline. The thing is I was told by a reliable source that this is the worst site to test at in GA because they are restructuring to become a magnet facility. Additionally, I can't find one single person who has passed at this site (SMRC in Riverdale). :sniff:

If I reschedule what are the chances of getting this same site? I really want to take the exam ASAP but I don't want to test where there isn't a fair opportunity to pass. OMG, I am so distraught and heart broken right now. I want to cry everytime I think about it. I've spent so much time, energy and money on this. :crying2:
