what now?
I applied for a position in a differerent department at my job. I am a new graduate ADN with 4 years of LPN experience. The position I applied for was a trainable position, meaning they were supposedly willing to train. I was interviewed by two nurses from that department. During the interview, one of the nurses stated that she didn't think I had enough experience to perform the required duties despite my prior LPN experience, experience working in LTC and working with the residents on the specific units the job catered too. Her colleague looked very surprised by this statement and changed the subject. I just learned that the position was filled with a brand new graduate ADN with no prior experience in nursing what so ever. The only difference between us other than what's been mentioned is race. I have yet to speak with my DON or ADON concerning this matter. I don't know what to say? I am definitely looking for other employment at this point.

Know any good hospitals in San Diego?
Scripps-Mercy is awesome, although I am biased. Scripps-Chula Vista, Scripps-La Jolla (pronounced La Hoya), UCSD has a hospital. The VA and Navy also have hospitals there. Try googling Hospitals in San Diego because I know I am forgetting alot of the others since I moved away from the state.

I think cutsey scrub tops look ridiculous on adult units
I think that out of respect for your adult patients/residents the cartoons should be left at home.

Rescheduling CPNE
Hi, I received a test date 3 days ago that's couple of months away. I have until Oct 7th to accept/decline. The thing is I was told by a reliable source that this is the worst site to test at in GA because they are restructuring to become a magnet facility. Additionally, I can't find one single person who has passed at this site (SMRC in Riverdale). If I reschedule what are the chances of getting this same site? I really want to take the exam ASAP but I don't want to test where there isn't a fair opportunity to pass. OMG, I am so distraught and heart broken right now. I want to cry everytime I think about it. I've spent so much time, energy and money on this.

Parents at Orientation
At the orientation you'll learn that a support network is essential. And having your mother there will help her to understand the stressors you will face.

Have you tried Study Group 101. They were very helpful even have some examples of practice tests. See if you can get the books from the library through interlibrary loan.

FCCA for EC
There is a practice exam. I'm not sure but I think it's $40 or so. The exam is truly difficult to describe. Even the directions to complete it were hard to understand because they are kinda vague.

FCCA for EC
It'll be electronic after the end of the summer. But it should have the same components.

FCCA for EC
The paper format of the FCCA is only available through the end of this summer for $290. It's sort of like case studies. You are given pt scenarios to determine which assessments are needed. You write complete nursing diagnosis, determine which tasks to delegate and to whom. And, collaborate with other members of the health care team to determine which services will be needed after discharge.
