Someone just posted about getting the bad pop up & the person passed. So no, the PVT doesn't always work. People are charged $200, the get the bad pop up. If people could wait 2 days (if their state participates) to get the official quick results, we would have a lot less people freaking out.

In considering the accuracy of the information you are presenting, it's worth mentioning this inaccuracy. EVERYONE'S exam undergoes what you can call a "second scoring"; EVERY exam has a QA review at some point during the 24 hours following the exam. Not just those who ran out of time, not just those who got all the questions.

The reason people are told to wait 24 hours before doing the PVT (if it's their bound will and desire) is to allow time for the QA review to be complete. It seems to be the biggest margin of error is for those who do the PVT immediately (or an hour, or two, or...whatever) post NCLEX and get one pop up, but then a different one when they do it again after the 24 hour mark. Some people post about doing it over and over and over and over again, and then are surprised to find a different result at some point later on.

This happens regardless of the number of questions one receives. The ONLY thing that I have yet to see is someone who stops at the minimum number of questions (75 for RN, 85 for PN) and have THAT pop up be good initially and bad later, or vice versa. For those people, it seems pretty safe to say that whatever it is at the closing of the test it is likely to stay (IOW, haven't yet found someone who the CAT deemed competent in only 75 questions later be reviewed to be INcompetent--and vice versa). That much is anecdotal, true, but it's what I've noticed over time.

Many people insist on tackling the PVT without really knowing what it IS they are doing, LOL, so it's not uncommon to have to peel someone off the walls because they did it wrong and are freaking out as a result.

Can only go so far to help people not drive themselves insane, the rest is up to them.
