Rent or Buy?👎
I don't see myself using my books after graduation. I am in my last semester of my BSN and sold all my past books today and Amazon is gonna pay me $450 total for them. I'd rather have the money.

Only charting?
Experience. I didn't mean to put critical care.

Only charting?
Both of the FNP programs in my state list it as a preference on their website, but not a requirement. My mistake. Not a requirement, but it will obviously help you be more competitive experience wise.

Only charting?
You are a nursing student, so please stop acting like you know what real nursing is like. I see you are one of the many people who think they are gonna be an NP. Do you realize that you usually need two years or so of critical care nursing to be an NP? You seem very uneducated on this topic, which is probably because you are just a student and have no idea what real nursing is like. I took a look at your past posts and you are in community college just starting your journey, so let's pump the breaks a bit with all of this "knowledge" you are spouting. Did I see you mention nurse pay isn't good? BSN nurses in my town are making 70k in the midwest with low cost of living. That is a ton of money nearly triple the average salary where I live. You can look up other salaries around the country and you will see the same. I think the national average is around 60k. If you live in a state with a low cost of living that is amazing pay. I am in my last year of my BSN and I am also a CNA. There are two hospitals in my town and I can count the amount of times I have seen a nurse clean up feces using both of my hands. The CNA's bring the trays, feed and help clean up. The nurses help when they can. There are some hospitals/departments that don't have CNA's, but that is on the low side. You come off as extremely under educated on the profession of nursing and I don't blame you for that because you are in a community college just starting. Let's leave people with RN after their names to explain what nursing is like.

Advices for upcoming nursing student
Never lose that fire inside of you. Remember how excited you were when you got accepted and hold on to that until you graduate. Make friends and stay away from drama! Having friends in nursing school can be very beneficial.

What's the best NCLEX app for your phone?
I recommend NCLEX Mastery, but I haven't tried Uworld yet. I have heard that many like Uworld.

JUST learned about my clinical assignment
You should make sure you have your assessment and med dosage calculation on point. Don't be afraid to ask your nurses for help.

Nursing GPA
It's all going to depend on the program. Some places in the country are less competitive than others.

Starting the Program in January
Congrats on the start of your journey. I remember when I first got accepted into my program and it was so exciting. I will graduate in May! My advice to you would be to make friends because it will be beneficial to all of you in your program. When it gets tough just remember how you felt when you first got in...it will be over before you know it!

ATI med-surg and mental health
Does your school provide you with the practice ATI tests to take before you take the proctored one? If so, after you take these it gives you a focused review on what you missed. I think this is the best way to study for it. Everything you need to know is in those ATI books.
