  1. 1) Best money I can make for only two years of education. 2) Caring for my family. 3) Helping an underserved group of people. 4) I'm great at it and learn quickly.
  2. Spending my life caring for people sounds awful. I hope to do something useful with my career, like maybe design a mandatory geriatric euthanasia machine.
  3. Size 37. I wear a 7 US.
  4. Why on Earth didn't you say, "And I hope you ******* die in a fire. Too bad we don't always get what we want,"?
  5. Crab legs, shrimp, roasted potato, corn, and lots of champagne. And chocolate cheesecake. Might have pasta later.
  6. 1) My husband. Truly my better half. We have been through so much, good and bad. He's the only one I could ever want. 2) My son. The miracle, the joy, the whole package that he is. It sounds arrogant and crazy, but I know he is destined for greatness. 3) My job in corrections healyh services. They need me, and they bring me purpose, and as many as four days off a week. 4) My dad. He shaped and tamed my character into somethin far better than what it was.
  7. I'm unsure why people lie to children and think it's "cute." Teaching children irrational nonsense and then being sad when they catch you is just weird.
  8. I worked bedside 7 years. Hated about 80% of it. I work in correctional health services. I love about 80% of it.
  9. I hemorrhaged at work with an ectopic pregnancy. I was doing a med pass for 30 at a SNF. I had blood on my shoes, but I still was passing pills before I noticed. It was, in retrospect, 8/10 pain. The whole "must be unable to speak" to be in severe pain is a bunch of crap. Between my med pass and emergency surgery was less than 90 minutes. Listen yo your patients or risk killing them.
  10. It's the individual's choice to live or die. This is a ridiculous and ancient topic. Don't like the future of hospice? There are options. If you don't like abortions, don't get one. If you don't like same sex marriage, avoid marrying someone of the same sex. If you don't like PAS, don't do it. I'm not some edgy liberal; I just don't participate in things I don't believe in.
  11. Keep it no-nonsense and professional. Let her finish her rants. Ask her if she's done. Then repeat what you've asked. If you never react, a month of this will likely break her histrionics.
  12. I think you mean another word other than disregard. Also, I was kidding, kind of. A lot of nursing and activities around it are about emotional masturbation, so I like to laugh at my insensitivity. Also, cashmere.
  13. I have no clue why I docked 26 hours. Too much looking at the schedule has killed my ability to use math.
  14. Nurses in general? You just snubbed every RN in this thread. Do you mean mandation? 12 hour shifts? I work 50-60 hour weeks, but always have two days off, minimum. I make it work. There are 142 hours in a week. Make the most of it. I manage to make dinner for my family about five nights a week, maintain my hobbies, exercise, spend a lot of time with my family and friends (ie. husband and children and friends in the area). I don't have a lot of time for dumb crap like Alzheimer's walks and bake sales and maintaining relationships with people I don't give two ***** about. When someone asked me for the fourth time if I wanted to participate in an Alzheimer's walk or donate money, I told her the truth: I had already slotted aside that money for buying cashmere and deerskin gloves for my husband, because I find animal exploitation that pleases him far less offensive than the emotional masturbation of "helpy walks." Here is what my week looked like: Sunday: Work 8 AM - 11 PM. Monday: 8A - 8P. Dinner. Tuesday: Day with husband. Hobbies with friends in evening after nice dinner. Wednesday: Work 8-8. Dinner. Chores. Thursday: 8A-11P. Still made dinner. Friday: Errands. Dinner and games with friends. Exercise. Cleaned house. Today: Lunch out with family. Farmer's market. Shopping. Exercise. Cleaning as i write this.
