  1. This is ridiculous. It’s your day off so why would you worry what others might think. Your working hours are out of this world. Are you new in this role? Is lack of experience your reason for working those long hours? So many questions need to be answered in order to understand your concern. You need to learn to delegate and that’s that. You are only one person and nursing is a 24 hr job. There’s no way I would be taking all these calls on my off days knowing there are other managers available. Not taking calls on your off days does not mean you’re bad manager. You’re the only one who can stop this so it’s up to you. Good luck.
  2. Hi, You should know you’re not alone as a new grad. I experienced the same thing as a new grad. I would get to work an entire hour before start time due to being nervous and anxious. The seasoned nurses would make fun of me but I didn’t care. Going in early allowed me time to relax and review my patients’ chart. I hated the feeling though. Try to sleep well and remind yourself that ‘you got this’. Don’t allow the other nurses to rush you. Good luck.
  3. I’m surprised about that being an issue now that you’re making more money than your spouse. It shouldn’t be MY money and HIS money. Combine the income and work with that and if needed, you both could look into getting some hours elsewhere. My spouse makes more than I do and still it is OUR money in one account to pay bills. If you truly love your spouse, look at this as OUR instead of individually. Good luck in everything
  4. There are so many things you can do with your BSN. I did only 2yrs at the bedside and now I’m a Community Based Care Manager and I LOVE it. Great great pay (triple my bedside pay), plus WAH opportunity with autonomy at its best. If you are interested, apply to an insurance company, they’re hiring.
  5. This is a forum for opinion, if you didn't want one, then why make a post. I agree nursing can seem tough but there are many options hang in there or just find something that will be rewarding to you.
  6. You can get the job. I got my first RN job after graduating at the age of 48. First job fair and bamí ½í¸Ší ½í¸Ší ½í¸Š. Don't give someone will hire you. Good luck
  7. Can't believe your mother could say that. That's shallow minded if anything she should be congratulating older people for going back to school. No one can take another persons' job. If they like you and God wants you there it will be yours. I graduated with my BSN, passed nclex with 75 questions first attempt at the age of 48. So there, it's hard work, not a disgrace. People should stop this discrimination thing and just live, laugh and love. She's not teaching you the right thing.
  8. My school certainly did. Good luck
  9. I have a friend who is a chiropractor, business wasn't picking up and she went back to get her nursing degree. Just saying nursing seems to be more lucrative
  10. 1month is good I used it for 2 weeks had left overs and gave it to my friend who had failed before. She used it and passed
  11. It is the best there is, trust me. I used Kaplan and all the books you can find yet after my friend told me about uworld I was on cloud 9. The rationales are so great. I know people who failed the first time and I told them to try uworld and guess what? They all passed. Uworld is 100% similar to nclex format. I passed with 75 questions. Good luck!
  12. Thank you! I worked in pediatric oncology for 5 months and resigned. Now I'm considering LTC care. I love the geriatric population and interviewing today for RN supervisor position. Thanks for this post it makes me feel a lot better.
  13. If it's too much for you, just quit and get your degree because in the long run it will pay off. I worked as a CMA for 5 years and had to resign to finish school. The same company rehired me. My first RN job. If they think you're a good worker they'll rehire you. Leave in good faith.
  14. I'm a new grad and was hired for nights. I've been doing orientation on days and find it diff to wake in the mornings. Hopefully I'll do better on nights
