I believe that class will be 1 or 2 days a week with clinical starting in the second semester for 2-3 days a week. I think we will learn alot at orientation in a few weeks. Do you want to meet up there?

I work in the emergency deparment and we do not use RT. We give our own neb treatments, collect ABG's, etc. the only thing we use RT for is to bring us down bipaps and collect RSV.

When in question if the patient has a chest xray, the port will say on it if it is power point (shows up on xray). At least the ones our facility uses do.

Cleveland Community also has an LPN program. It is only 45 minutes outside of charlotte. I would much rather drive that far then pay out the butt for the same degree

Our badges have our first name and last initial on them when issued. almost everyone, including me, covered our last initial with a sticker or something

It is called the "pull" system and it is supposed to improve patient flow. The ICU has been receptive so far.

NO presby is an ASN. I think Mercy is the only diploma program left in the state.

Presbyterian also has the repayment program as well as Carolinas. Mercy is a diploma program.

We staff our 36 bed trauma center with: 5 nurses at 7a 2 nurses at 9a 2 nurses at 11a 1 nurse at 1p 1 nurse at 3p 1 nurse at 5p 5 nurses at 7p

Our Emergency Department is RNs only. Our techs are all EMT intermediates or paramedics.

We got lunch boxes and a nice t shirt. they also had a diffrent activity each day. we had breakfast one day, rovoing massage therapist on tuesday, a BIG lunch wed, thur they gave us movie passes, and friday we had a cookout

I have to speak to a local high school group about becoming a nurse. I need to include like what to do to get into college, what nursing school is like, and what nursing is like? What would you tell them???

uh, no. i mean a 4 year degree. see: http://hsc.unm.edu/som/emsacad/alspage.shtml not many places offer the bs in paramedic. i know that none of our ems medics have a 4 year degree and i would bet most other places dont. it is usually a 2 year degree. also a lot of times medics may not run but 4 or 5 calls on a 24 hour shift as to where nurses have 4 to5 patients for 12 hours straight. in the er it is a dangerous place. we dont have the ability to search everyone who comes in the door. so who is to say the psych patient doesnt have a knife to stab a nurse or that the gang banger who got shot in the leg doesnt have someone come in who finishes the job?? cops have the ability to defend themselves on the street, nurses cant defend themselves without loosing their right to practice. also a medic will not go on a scene that has not been secured by the police

now that I think about it in our ER we call the physician assistants and nurse practioners by their first name but we call the doctors Dr so and so

When i was on surgical floor the techs did all the am care. The RN would help when they got their work finished. Perhaps your unit should hire another tech
