I just started nursing school BUT I use them in my daily life and love them!

I was a HS English teacher before I got pregnant. Teaching wasn't for me, I became pregnant and I have been a SAHM for 2.5 years now. I start Nursing school on Monday. I am so happy I had 2.5 years at home with my boy. I'm so sad to be leaving him but we have such an amazing bond now that I know it will be okay and he is young enough where he won't remember me being gone too much but he's old enough where he has a solid foundation.

My clinicals right out of the gate are 12 hours!!

I just got my clinical assignment and in doing my first 3 weeks ( after the SIM lab) at a LTC and my last 6 weeks on the Peds floor at the hospital

13" hands down. It's super light but the screen is big enough where you won't strain and you can have two windows up at once and still be able to read them

Not while you're out sick. If you're well enough to be calling in treats then people might question if you're really sick. If you wanted to show appreciation (though I think a nice thank you when you return would suffice) you can bring something in when you return

I had this happen to me when I took a HS teaching position. I found out the day before the interview but I didn't tell them. I told them once I hit 12 weeks. They were very supportive! Even when I went on bed rest the last 7 weeks (and I have since switched occupations and starting NS in August)

So being an RN is similar to being a mom? If so, I've got this in the bag!

I live in Maine and get where you're coming from. Personally I would wait until you have a paying RN job to get that vehicle. I have a Jeep GC right now and I will be driving 60min one way (30 miles) to school and back and I'm thinking of getting a car that is Better in gas because I'm not making money right now. In Maine it's pretty important to have a 4x4 in the winter, but if you don't have to have one, don't! At least not right away. They are gas hogs and let's be honest, how many times would you REALLY need to kick it into four wheel drive? I drive my toddler around all winter long and don't need too. Just drive slow, keep your distance and you'll be fine! Save that cash for something else :) Invest in studded snows and you'll be fine! I drove 1.5 hours to work with my Corolla down back roads when I was teaching!

Why do you need someone with you? If you want to withdraw and get away from the program, then why does it matter what she says or thinks of you? You'll never see her again! Grow a pair, face the music, and go about your merry way!

I think it's very reasonable especially since you're moving away. Take the few weeks to relax, see friends, and prepare for the new job.

If I were you and you have worked with them before, be upfront with them. Maybe you could work for those 3 months until they can find a permanent replacement. So you'd kind of be a placeholder. Otherwise if you took the job and didn't tell them you would be burning bridges with people you already have a good report with AND potentially be setting yourself up for a negative reputation.

You're very welcome! I did half my English BA online and the other half through a satellite campus, so I had to learn the best way to get through online classes. If your classes let you take practice tests, the BEST way to do it is, start the test then print it out. For me I had to start it then submit it and it would show me all the questions I got wrong (since I didn't answer them) then I took that and had those questions next to me while I studied the chapter so I knew what to look for.

I took both I & II online and loved it. It does take discipline but you have more freedom. What helped me a TON was printing out EVERYTHING that the professor posted so I have it in a binder. Same thing you'd do for class. And the only time I was at my computer for "class" was for an online lab or test/discussion assignment. I treated everything else like I was in the classroom

Get more sleep!!! I drink Shakeology (by beachbody) and it's amazing! It's 100% all natural and gives me the nutrients that I'm missing throughout the day and really helps with my R every, without caffeine! And I used to drink 6-10 cups of coffee a day

I was I a similar situation. I had always thought I wanted to be an English teacher but in the back of my mind I had wanted to become an Arab. But I listened to everyone around me saying that getting my RN wasn't smart and to get into education. So I got my BA and started teaching. I quit 5 years later and I just got accepted into nursing school :) I HATED every single day of teaching. Dreaded it. You need to go with your gut. If you're not happy now, you won't be happy later. I suggest taking the credits you have an transferring. Instead of going through with RN school and landing yourself a job just to be that much further along and still hating what you do. You're young you have plenty of time to switch tracks :)

It all depends on where you live. Some places you might make $30 an hour but if the cost of living is high those in a different state making $23 an hour actually make more if their cost of living is a lot lower. So it's very relative to where you live.

I already have a BA in English so I had most the pre-reqs already done. I did take A&P I and II and they were tough. I got a 98 in both while being a SAHM to a very active toddler. You just have to have time management!
