  1. Wearing Scrubs Outside of the Workplace

So... I live fifteen minutes from work and we do shift change at 0600-0700 and 1800-1900 (depending on your position). There's a Walmart, a Kroger, a Sam's Club and dozens of restaurants less than ten minutes from the hospital (and I live fifteen min...
  2. Memorial Hermann Summer 2016 Residency

I can't find the group. ...nvm. lol.
  3. Memorial Hermann Summer 2016 Residency

I haven't heard from them in a few weeks and I'm starting to get antsy and paranoid. My mind is like, "Remember that facebook post you made 9 years ago? When you were holding green beer? Maybe they found it and deleted your application."
  4. Telemetry/ IMCU Advice please!

"Telemetry units have designated monitor techs who do the 'watching'.... they'll let you know if anything hinky is going on." Whoa now. I work PRN as a monitor tech while I'm in nursing school and I can honestly tell you...that's not always true. Eve...
  5. EMTs Ever Look at You Like You're Dumb?

Was he asking for the student's medical history or the history of how he came to be in your care? I'm a medic in nursing school and I can honestly say, of all the times I've responded to a high school, I've never expected the school nurse to know the...
  6. ER vs ICU with a CRNA focus in the future

I get my ADN this May as well. =D I also hope to pursue CRNA and I'm going to ICU. I know for a fact that the school I want to go to will only accept ICU experience and you have to have at least a year in it. They're not picky as to what kind of I...
  7. Memorial Hermann Summer 2016 Residency

I got an email from HR at Hermann NE earlier this week, this is after I got the offer letter and whatnot, saying that New Hire services would contact me 2-3 weeks before my start date to begin the rest of the hiring procedures.
  8. Does anyone know of any nursing student / general student online support groups? I'm having a lot of social and financial issues that are affecting school but I find myself unable to talk to people at school about it. It's not because they're not fan...
  9. Student Professional Nurse

So I recently applied for a similar position at a different Hermann and was wondering if you could tell me more about the hiring and interview process?
  10. Hey all, Now that all LS branch applications are open... who's applying? I'm super curious as to who else is going to be staring at their email hoping for anything from the program. Literally everyone I was hoping to go to through the program with ha...
  11. NOTES...how do you take yours?

Both. My tablet allows for handwriting but has an attachable keyboard for when I want to type. I predominantly write because, once written, I can remember it without reviewing versus typing where I have to check my notes.
  12. Getting used to 12 hour shifts?

I'm also a night owl and I *might* be able to help with that aspect. I'm going to preface this with the fact that I'm a paramedic in nursing school and I've been a paramedic for 7 years. I've worked mostly 24 hour shifts in the prehospital environmen...
  13. That would actually be a wonderful course for anyone going into medicine to take. Part of me hopes our nursing program goes over something like it but the rest of me is already daunted by what we are covering and dreading another test on pretty much ...
  14. renting vs buying ebooks & online access texts

I'm an avid e-book reader... recreationally. I had some luck using the e-book that came with my statistics course access but was not passing History when I attempted to use an ebook with it. A lot of that is because 50-55% of my study strategy came f...
  15. I have a FB for keeping in touch with family and one specifically for work and school. There is nothing on my work / school FB that can't be shared in a court of law / with my mother. I personally like it because it means I have a FB presence if you'...
  16. Application Time! Lonestar Bridge 2015 Hopefuls

Yes and no. I applied to Kingwood (first choice b/c of their schedule), Montgomery and North Harris. Due to the different scoring methods, I was one of the few who had a vastly different score when compared. I had an 11.13 / 12 (which is good) for Mo...
  17. Lonestar 2015 fall hopefuls

I'm starting to think I should have done a DO... might have taken less time. I've called twice and they said they sent it both times but I still don't have it. I'm tempted to ask if I can come pick it up
  18. Lonestar 2015 fall hopefuls

Yeah, I did all my vaccinations and titers through my PCP and haven't paid anything. Unfortunately I already had my physical this year so I'm debating office visit copay or trying to find something cheaper.
  19. Lonestar 2015 fall hopefuls

I haven't been able to get my first code, the one for the medical document manager, to work. It just days that the package is unavailable...
  20. Lonestar 2015 fall hopefuls

    Montgomery Transition!
  21. Lonestar 2015 fall hopefuls

I'm equal parts jealous and happy for everyone that got into a program. =D
  22. Lonestar 2015 fall hopefuls

Both. My transition application to NH and Montgomery was 12 point, I got 11.13, and my transition application to Kingwood was 8 point, I got 6.9.
  23. Lonestar 2015 fall hopefuls

I was told 30 transition students per campus per application period but I don't know how accurate that statement was. My first choice was Kingwood followed by Montgomery then North Harris but their separate application periods means KW won't send out...
  24. Lonestar 2015 fall hopefuls

nurseENBN and Love2Shop42, which campus did you apply to for transition?
