ID card before OBLC?
GoGreen and LZRN... I would get your ID ASAP. This allows you access to military installations, the PX, military discounts ect. It will also help because you need to get your uniforms before you go to OBC. Here is the link to RAPIDS, just enter your geographic location and it will search the ID office nearest you. Give them a call and make sure you are in the system before you go, they will tell you what you need to bring. Good luck! http://www.dmdc.osd.mil/rsl/owa/home

OBC-RC Pay
Update... According to my LTC Chief Nurse we should be getting paid while in OBC. However the reservists often fall through the cracks. We are working to make sure that all my ducks are in a row before I leave (in less that two weeks) so I will not be put through any financial hardships. What a frickin headache....:hdvwl:

2 June Boards(Questions, pls help)
NP, I would contact your recruiter and ask if 2 June was the document deadline or if it in fact was the boarding date. There is a deadline set approx 2 weeks before boards. You should have known within a few days if you had made it through boards, it is up to your recruiter to contact you and let you know. I received a phone call from my recruiter two days after the board date, from there we set up a time for completeing the endless trail of documents and for commissioning. Good luck!

Army Reserve Uniform Allowance
Yep we get $600.00 after OBC. You have to submit the correct form (USAR 25R) to your unit after completion. It is anyones guess when you will actually get the money!! =)

OBC-RC Pay
Yeah I know but I find it interesting that this subject hasn't come up on here before and why are we not told in advance so we can do some financial planning/rearranging.

Madigan AMC
I was wondering if there were any 8As here who are stationed at Madigan? I will be at Ft Lewis in a couple of weeks and would love the chance for a tour of the critical care units. Thanks in advance! =)

OBLC requirements
I just received all the paperwork for the PHA. There are guidelines for preventative health by age. Fecal occult blood/colonoscopy are not required until after the age of 50. PSA for men over 50. Mammogram for women over 40 and glaucoma for those over 40. Interesting, nowhere in all this paperwork or on AKO am I finding anything about x-rays of long bones or skull. Unless you have a hx of prior fxs maybe?!!? Anyone else have any input on this?

OBLC requirements
Ha! Thank you, I guess this our welcome to the Army. After you complete your self-assessment in AKO there is an 800 number for you to call. Just go back into "my medical" and the number should be there. If you can't find it let me know and I can get it to you. These people will set you up for a physical with a physician who contracts with the Army. Its easy, just time consuming. They will send you the paperwork that you need for the appointment. As far as the dentist thing goes, I went for my yearly check-up my dentist filled out the for (can't remember the form #) and I sent that in. Apparently we need the panorex x-rays for identification purposes. I just scheduled through the 800 number for the panorex, thankfully the Army accepted my dentist form. You probably could have your dentist do the panorex and just turn it in to your unit. You should be good to go on the HIV and immunizations then. Ok, whew. Did I cover everything?!!?

DEERS
Patty, I am assuming that you already have an AKO account. You can go into the HRC site and change your address on your own. As for the orders like RunninMom said, your orders will pop up first in HRC under the "reserve tool" which is the same place where you can update your personal information.

ANC Selection Questions
As for the bonus you are taxed at 28%, although I am not sure what happens if you put it into the TSP. The gov't will get their money either way. As for the student loan repayment, the Army will disperse funds at the beginning of the fiscal year. In this case it will be Oct 09 and payments will be made yearly until the loan is paid in full or the full 50K has been dispersed.

Army Accession Timeline--packet to orders
Woot woot!! Thats awesome! It is definately a painfully long time to wait, especially when you see others commission at the same time as you get their orders months before you do. I too was an HRC/AKO addict, checking multiple times a day, when I got my orders I fell off the chair!! Good luck with your drills as I have my first one coming up the first weekend in April. Holy crap, I guess its time for surreality to depart and reality to set in!! Hooah!

the long, drawn out, aggravating and frustrating wait for orders
Boarded: 14-15th "ish" Oct Commissioned: 21 Oct Orders: 20 Jan First set orders were in my HRC account (electronic). Second set I received 03 Feb via snail mail. Still haven't received any packets of information from my unit yet. I am APMC, so the process might be a bit different from everyone else's. I do know that 66HM5 has been waiting on his orders since July 08.

June OBC
Hey Cathy, There are 3 of us (Runningmom and ArmyNurse2b) who are planning/anticipating on going in June. With that being said, I have my orders but haven't been notified by my unit yet, and the other 2 are waiting for their orders. We will definately keep in contact with you and let you know the progress. Stacee
