  1. Hi all, Currently studying for the CNE exam. I have the Billings book as well as the full question app (79). Would appreciate any further advise. Thanks
  2. Does anyone have access the quizlet? Thank you
  3. Congrats on passing the CNEcl exam. For those who have taken the CNE exam as well, how do both compare? I teach both clinicals and lectures and wondered which to take. Since I plan to teach lectures long term, I have decided to start with the CNE exam. I just started the Billings and Halstead book. I also bought the full questions app by Whitman-Price for $79. Any further tips or suggestions? Thank you

I passed on the first try as well. I thought it was tough. I didn't buy the practice exam though. I was saving that for if I didn't pass lol. I used he pass CCRN question bank , LG and a little bit of the Barron's review questions

I have been putting this test off for far too long. Finally going to take it soon because of other deadlines. I'm also using the PASS CCRN. I'm trying to go through the questions and rationales. Taking notes as I go. I'm also wondering if I should buy the AACN self assessment test.
  9. I got a few emails from them since I got accepted in December. I created the Net ID. I haven't done the background check yet. I filed Fin aid although I need to get my taxes done.
  10. Welcome. Have you completed the background check and all the required paper work?
  11. Hi Everyone. I start the FNP program in the Fall as well, got accepted in December. Can't wait to start. Need to complete all my paper work though.
  12. Just got accepted to the GWU FNP program. Excited. Hope I like it.
  13. I got home from my third 12 hr night shift, parked my car in my spot and headed for the door. Half way there I looked back and wondered why my car lights were still on and it didn't warn me. Walked back to check, my car was still on with the key in the ignition, I had parked the car and was making a beeline for my apt lol. I've waited for blinking red lights to turn green lol On a serious note, I fell asleep once and woke up about to hit the curb. Coupled with some sleep issues I was having that was the last straw. I left nights

Hey, I only have the pass CCRN and the LG DVDs. I'm concentrating on the question bank for now especially the cardiac section. How is your preparation coming along?

It is unfortunate that you have been placed in such a predicament and I'm hoping that your employers have plans in place in case of 'real' emergencies. Until you consistently see those issues you are worried about and get comfortable with them, you will continue to feel like a fish out if water. The only thing you can do something about now is how you show your discomfort! Read up so at least you have the theoretical knowledge and STOP acting like you are unsure even if you are. When I graduated, I was placed in a similar position. I asked tons of question during orientation and right after that I was put as charge nurse with 1 tech on a unit with 10 acute psych patients. You bet I was scared but I was the only one who knew that. I read and when there were emergencies I called for help and did my best. You either read up and ACT like you know what you are doing (safely) ask questions, or you RUN. If you feel and act so uncertain and you have no backup during an emergency, you could make a mistake that could cost you your license.
  16. Experience is the best teacher and because we cannot experience it all, we must learn through the experiences of others. That being said I'd like to thank the OP for sharing such a personal and emotional part of life. I have worked on the behavioral units so I have cared for people who are going through an addiction. Like someone mentioned above, a person with an addiction can be very unlikeable because of what they do to get their way. I have had days where I had to read books to remind myself that those behaviors are not ALWAYS a choice. I have once said 'I will never be addicted', now I know better. Not because I have personally gone through it but because I have let myself live through it with someone who is. It is easy to say I will never if you have the choice of taking the medications the first few times, how about during traumatic events when the med is really the only way to get through the pain? I recently fractured my ankle and I am glad that I did not require an opioid. IT CAN be addicting, and the rewiring of the brain is not a choice. I doubt willpower alone is sufficient. It has to be will power backed by other reasons, a job, loved ones, religion etc.. My prayers are with you guys who have the misfortune of going through this. But it is a lesson for you and for us. Hopefully we can all appreciate that.
  17. Hey ohiosicurn, How is your CCRN studying going?
  18. So, I've watched the Endocrine DVD and I'm now watching the Neuro. I have never laughed so hard while watching a study material. Laura Gasparis is funny!!! I really though people were exaggerating but I stand corrected. Lol. "Brenda, there's a murder going on". Hahahaha
  19. I just got the Laura Gasparis DVDs. I'll let you know how helpful it is.
  20. Father: It must be her calling after all. Mother: It's all that caffeine she has been drinking. Student: If I get to class first, I get to choose my lab partner. "Joe is so dreamy" :)))
  21. In order to be eligible for the CMC or the CSC you have already have a speciality certification in nursing. It actually does not have to be just the CCRN. On the AACN website it states Examples of acceptable clinical nursing certifications include, but are not limited to: CCRN, CCRN-E, PCCN, ACNPC, ACNPC-AG, CCNS, ACCNS-AG, CEN, CMSRN, CNOR, CRNFA, CPAN, etc. These are just a few. Hope this helps
  22. I'm studying for the CCRN as well. I'm using the pass CCRN question bank. I might be purchasing the Laura G DVDs soon. I'm planning on taking it late next month.
  23. Thank you. I have been using that. Hopefully I feel ready to take it by next month.
