Considering becoming a LVN before RN
Yeah, if you can do it then go for it. But again I do not recommend anyone do that unless they absolutely can do so. The nursing program will not be a walk in the park! I know plenty of people who have taken the program and think I'm crazy for even considering doing this. Also, I am a mother of two. But they will be in school while I'm partaking in any of my endevours so again, its not a problem for me. But goodluck to you!!! We got this! Lol

Considering becoming a LVN before RN
Yes, I would not recommend it to anyone though. I'm only doing a few throughout the course of the LVN program. The few that I will be dabbling into are merely P.E., which at my school it's a open program, meaning I can come and go as I please as long as the exercise gym is open. I have 5 days out of the week to complete 3 hours max/week. I'm ALSO going to LVN school part time so this gives me that flexibility to knock out one prerequisite while I'm in nursing school. PLUS my job is super flexible hours so it works for me. ALSO, I'm taking a sociology class but that's only 4 hours total out of my week. AND its a late start class that last for 6 weeks. So I can definitely do that. Easy easy class and teacher too! But again I do not suggest anyone do what I'm doing. Due to my super flexible schedule I can do this. Not many can. By no means will LVN school be a walk in the park! But anything is doable !

Considering becoming a LVN before RN
Personally, I'm going for my LVN license first. Its only a one year program so why not ! At the same time I am planning on taking my "easy" prerequisites for the RN program over this year of LVN schooling. When I say easy I mean P.E. classes and such. I think that's the best approach because you could be working as a nurse while waiting to get into the RN program. Goodluck to you, myself, and all others who are trying to achieve their career goals!

New Nursing Student(Not getting the concept of it)
Seems to me that your biggest problem is yourself. Maybe if you learn some different exercises then it can boost your learning ability. For one you need to keep a POSITIVE mindset. Do not beat yourself up or say to yourself ,"but what if I fail the next time?" Don't you see how you're already doubting yourself before the test is even given, or even before you tried a different approach to your studying. You have to have confidence in yourself FIRST and foremost! Trust me not everyone has passed EVERY single test the first time into a new program. Sometimes it takes a test or two in order for them to find their most effective learning style. For two you need to BREATHE ! Try some breathing exercises BEFORE and after studying. It works for me!! Just sit there and breathe in and out 5 or more times. RELAX your brain. ALSO do this before it's testing time. FULLY relax your mind and body. For three SEEK help from instructors. Ask them what are some ways to retain information. Also what are some different learning styles that you can probably apply for yourself. Utilize your fellow classmates as well. I personally do not like study groups. I never seem to learn anything from them BUT you may find them helpful. Maybe I've just studied with the wrong people. Idk. But find a way that can help you retain the information. It is almost impossible to remember the entire chapter worth of info in a short amount of time so don't get too emotional when you can't get all of the info into your brain. ALSO repetition can help as well. So try it out. Most of all giving up will do nothing but set you back another year or so. Go in there.. STAY POSITIVE within yourself and reassure to yourself that you will overcome all obstacles! You aren't the first or the last person who has had or will have some difficulty but its about overcoming those obstacles and becoming the best nurse that you can ever be!! If school difficulties overpower you then maybe this isn't the field for you because I'm not a nurse yet but I can assure you that life difficulties take a lot of will to overcome ! You can do it !!!! Good luck to you, myself, and everyone who is trying to get somewhere in their lifetime !! :)

Decisions.. your Opinion
Aww you are the best!! This was so AWESOME !! :))) Totally agree with everything that you stated!!!

Do you help other students out?
Nothing is wrong with wanting everyone to succeed. I want everyone to succeed as well. But at the same time it is nothing wrong with worrying about yourself as well. It has nothing to do with anyone having children or not. I know plenty of classmates who have no children but could never find time to meet up with us. There is no excuse for anyone. But at the end of the day to each it's own. I just want to ensure that our focus is on becoming competent nurses! That's what truly matters! Good luck on your journey as well! :) :)

Decisions.. your Opinion
Most definitely go the CNA route. I am currently in a similar situation but I agree that at the ending of my schooling I will be making double of what I'm offered now so I say stick to school and going the CNA route !!! Come October next year you will be happy that you did ! Good luck and God bless! :)

My last comment was in response to your post. I forgot to "quote" it. Oops lol

Do you help other students out?
OOPS forgot to quote Tasha's post... This was in response to what she said in her comment. Having children has nothing to do with meeting anything. I have children and was able to meet with my study groups whenever we made a designated time to meet. I think your issue was that you thought you had a friend and she obviously was UNGRATEFUL and was NOT your friend at all. I'd rather she said thank you and kept it pushing then to be rude and disrespectful like that. Smh. The nerve of some people! That's why its best to worry about yourself ! But any who I'm glad someone who was grateful came along and appreciated you. That's awesome !

Do you help other students out?
I would simply tell her (the pest) that you are not trying to be mean or rude, but that you study better alone. Some people do not catch hints. And some people just don't give a damn until you tell them in a blunt manner. I completely agree with this ! Sometimes you have to be blunt but of course respectfully. Some people take advantage of others and their time even when they do not realize that they are doing so. I can not do group study period. It does not work for me. But I definitely do not agree with anyone trying to leech off of me without at least contributing of some sort. That is just plain rude! I have children as well but there is no excuse why anyone can not take the time to study material on their own. Let her know that you will not be able to "study" with her for whatever reason and leave it at that. If she does not understand then oh well. That's her bad, not yours. Goodluck with your studies!

Lord please help me, LOL! But seriously...
You are so very welcomed !!!!! I totally get you though! I'm no where near where you are BUT I know exactly how you're feeling !!! I do not know you personally BUT I can totally tell that you are extremely motivated and dedicated and that's super awesome ! I have read success story's from people who have unfortunately been in your similar situation as far as the school setbacks for whatever reason, and almost all of the time they STILL passed the Nclex ! It just takes hardwork and true dedication with studying and reviewing ! ANY and EVERYTHING is possible !!!! You have to set your mind to it and JUST DO IT!!! My advice is to just stay positive ! Do some breathing exercises anytime you start to feel overwhelmed. Take short breaks between the time of reviewing/studying. And just keep your faith and your goal in mind !!!! Anything is possible ! It's up to us as individuals to understand that concept ! I wish you ALL of the best with your success ! Claim this victory in Jesus name ! P.s. Everyday when you wake up in the morning (and if you are a spiritual person) thank the Lord for being by your side throughout your journey and CLAIM your victory with passing the test! (Do this everyday as if you've ALREADY passed the test! CLAIM IT!!) AGAIN, I wish you all the best !!!! Keep me updated :) even through email is fine. [email protected] God Bless :)
