  1. I think everyone feels like they failed/knew nothing. I didn't think I got any of the question right, and I got a slew of SATA, but didn't count. I knew I failed. I started studying in the library again the next morning because I was so sure....but I passed!
  2. Joining professional organizations-not a bad idea, but if you are too busy to be involved then don't just join to put it on your resume. Getting extra certifications is ALWAYS a good idea, and you should get financial help from the facility you work in, I would look into that and work on that before doing much else. As for malpractice insurance, never a bad idea. See what kind of coverage you have at work though, it may not be needed. If it is, it's not expensive. Congrats on your job!! Learn as much as you can, that is the best thing you can do for your career!
  3. They got a new lawyer and I am betting he told them to shut up before they do more damage to an already frivolous case.
  4. It says right on the work order 'install light bulb prn', what more documentation do you need?
  5. People pass and fail at 75. If the questions felt "easy" to you, it could be that they were below the passing line, OR it could be that you were very well prepared and that it was an easy test for you. It happens (unfortunately not to me!) If you are in a state that participates in quick results, you should know tomorrow. Best of luck!
  6. LOL not exactly! in my case, I had done my practicum on the unit that hired me and I did know people. But most of my classmates found out what units were hiring on the hospital job boards, then walked in with a resume without knowing anyone. I actually had plans to start doing that but got hired quickly so I didnt
  7. Most people leave the test thinking that they failed. I was so sure I failed that I started studying again the next morning, but I passed. What you feel is normal and not indicative of your results. Best of luck!
  8. Looks like SATA to me. A and D!
  9. OP, if you get hired at a hospital, please tell us where you are working so we can avoid going there ever. You are too stubborn and argumentative and your refusal to listen to people who know what they are talking about and actually LEARN something is going to make you the kind of nurse that I never want caring for me. The PVT is not reliable. it worked for you, it will work for thousands more, but it doesn't work for many many people! What do you risk? You risk getting upset and depressed beacause you think you failed when you didn't. Emotional turmoil is as important a risk factor as money.
  10. Wow Cali is expensive. I paid the $200 for the test and the $150 to the BON which was both the application and license fee. I don't know if you have to pay all of it again for a retest because I didn't have to retest. Renewals are $120 every two years.
  11. Wow, I didn't know that. In my state, you have to pay the $150 before you test...what state is this?
  12. congrats, but your scores weren't low! They were pretty average. They pretty much matched mmine in fact.
  13. You can look yourself up on the BON as many times as you want. Some BONs post quickly, some are slow, so if you don't show up today, look tomorrow, etc.
  14. Whoa--you haven't got official word you failed yet? Please don't just assume! Does your state participate in quick results? if so, they cost $8.00 are well worth it. If not, then wait until you have official word. Some BONs are not consistent, some post same day, some weeks later. If you did fail, then you need more help than you are going to find in a self study course of anything. Tutoring will be your best bet for success, but again, wait for official word!!
  15. It is mailed to you if you fail nclex
  16. How can you not know the answer? The NCLEX (and thus Pearson and the PVT) are national. However each state has rules about releasing results or a license. You can pass the test and still not a get a license if your state finds something in your background (or whatever) and decides not to license you. BTW, the CORRECT response you SHOULD be posting is "I'm sorry, I made a mistake. Thank you for correcting me, I learned something new today" Give it a try!!!!!!!!!!
  17. OP-you are arguing with two of the most knowledgeable nurses on this subject on these forums and you continue to argue "just cos"?? Fresh out of school, just took the exam, the trick worked for you and so you just assume it is going to work for the other thousands of new nurses who are taking the exam this summer. Ummm....did you already forget what you learned about evidence based practice? In this case evidence shows that PVT is not reliable! Sure, it will work for some people...but it isn't reliable enough to tell the world to use it, because IT IS NOT RELIABLE! You really need to try to learn from older more seasoned nurses, or you aren't going to have a successful career!
  18. Klone--Yes! Be a nurse manager in LD at a place that pays was better than hca then hire me! :-) I really like my job, but the pay sucks!
  19. I have been on these forums for over a year and these are some of the best Kaplan scores I have seen! Panic is normal...stress is normal. is an (insert really dirty word) because the boards he had to take two days before NCLEX were a piece of cake compared to NCLEX is normal (at least for me) lol. I passed with way lower scores than that. Try to relax.
  20. I was SO sure I failed that I got up the next morning, went to the library and started studying again. And the morning after that as well! When the quick results came that afternoon and I passed, I was so stunned I walked out of the library and left all my study materials behind. Never did go back to get them.....Hope they helped someone else!
  21. Best of luck. Ummm...et your alarm, your back up alarm and tell your mom to call to be sure you are awake!!!! my biggest fear with a morning test was oversleeping (but I didn't)
  22. I honestly don't think it was you, I think it's the experience box. If you don't have any, the computer trashes the application. Seriously consider taking your resume into the NM. it worked for my classmates and me last year. We all got hired AFTER we started ignoring the online applications
  23. This isn't exactly negative, because I am positive you are going to feel like you know absolutely nothing, and that will scare and frustrate you. (sorry)....First thing you do--before you even start working, is grab a couple of your classmates who are also just starting and form a support group because when you can call these people and hear that what you are feeling is completely normal and everyone else feels the same, it will make you feel so so much better!! The ask question part is the best advise--but try not to have to ask the same question twice. Carry an extra pair of shoes to work-on a 12 hour shift, changing midway through saves feet!! If you have any down time at all, offer to answer calls for other nurses (not just your preceptor) these nurses will be there after orientation and you want them to know you are a team player and someone they can count on. Your learning is just beginning....nursing school was the dress rehearsal--now is the real show! You can do it, they wouldn't have hired you if they didn't see something awesome when you interviewed....remind yourself of that every time you feel inadequate. Also remind yourself that every single one of us has been there....and most of us survived!!!
  24. An others said, don't take ANYTHING with you except your ID and your car keys. A clear see through bottle of water is probably ok. You cannot chew gum, do not wear jewelry, a headband, a hat or a even jacket unless you really need it. Keep your shoes on to prevent getting accused of having answers on the bottom or your feet or socks. Security is intense and distracting, be prepared for it. Be prepared for the whole 265/ 6 hours. Hopefully that wont happen, but psych yourself up to think it will so it doesn't freak you out if it does. For me and most others I have spoken to, it was the most stressful thing I ever did. I left there completely sure that I failed (as do many people), but I passed. Don't let your feelings get in the way of being happy that its over and then find something fun and relaxing to do while waiting for results. GOOD LUCK!
