fccj spring 2007 accepted nursing students
Never had problems with that rule. . . Never remember hearing it. My teachers encouraged it. Always find out WHO writes what tests. Watts does the Concepts so we usually had extra people in our concepts class. Burns wrote pharm so we had extra in our pharm. No big deal to the teachers. Before finals the Pharm class was PACKED.

fccj spring 2007 accepted nursing students
Good luck to you first termers!!! I'm just finishing first term at FCCJ. It's tough and sometimes can be discouraging:) Some helpful hints from me: Pharm was my hardest subject. Burns is a good teacher to sit in on if you can as she writes the tests ....... Get your lab hours in and don't wait until the last week. Don't buy the stupid nurse notes thingys Anyways enjoy the holidays!

FCCJ Nursing students- Question about scheduling
The schedules are still there ...... My first term schedule Mon 9-12 Concepts 3-5:30 test(s) Tue off (but studying for next monday's test and praying about yesterday's test) Wed 9-12 health assessment Thur 9-12 pharm Fri- 7-2:30 (longer once in clinicals. I'd find it difficult to study like I should and work 40 hours but then again I have two toddlers so it probably just as hard.

become nurse with drug charge?
Kelly, Did your school did a background check and talk to you about it? Does your nursing advisor know? Maybe she can help guide you. BTW, your age and bad luck shouldn't be to blame for your criminal offenses. A twenty year old drunk killed my sister the day before Thanksgiving fourteen years ago. It mangled my leg pretty bad so much I hardly ever wear shorts/ have pain when walking/sitting still too long and still I will never forget that or blame his carelessness and selfishness on his bad luck or age. Just be thankful that you just got a DUI and didn't hurt yourself or others and learned to mature enough to never do it again. I read your post about this before and the 20 and come on comment just really hit too close to home.

Hey
well got the reports back but they didn't do a titer for the Hep B. I got the first dose and need the two other doses so hopefully, they will accept that. My doctor's office totally messed up and lost the papers. They had to call the labs to fax them over twice. I got mine at walgreen's for 7.99. It looks cheesy LOL. I went through everything and hopefully have all ready to go. I can't wait until orientation!
-
Hey
Everyone ready for orientatioN? I only now need to get my lab reports back from my doctor......who is scaring me by trying to find them now!!!:angryfire I went by and bought all the books less the modules for the fall. It's quite a stack

Nurse and Police Officer
I know several police officer/nurse couples but none that travels. I agree with pp. Police officers jobs usually require lengthy employment in one departmen for good retirement benefits. My dh is also a police officer and one day I'll be a nurse.

Who's applying for the Fall 2006 semester?
CAL723........ I am the one that said the 189. Just something I heard. I haven't called yet. I thought we would find out six weeks later UGHHHH. I can't believe we still have four more weeks. The waiting is pure torture.
-
how do you afford to live while in school?
Thanks!! I'll check it out! When (if) I get accepted, I think I'll go with Sallie Mae. The cost of daycare is scaring me LOL
-
how do you afford to live while in school?
What companies are you all using to get loans? I'm hopefully starting full time at a cc this fall but need help with daycare expenses besides the federal loan ... Thanks

Police Killed Our Patient
THANK YOU! ! My hubby goes to work every night as a police officer with his bullet proof vest. He has a taser and has been tased himself (he said it hurt )but hasn't used it yet. Our city also likes settlements even if the case is ridiculous because trials cost even more.

Any SAHM's with small kids doing pre-nursing classes?
While doing prereqs, I took it slow and did two a semester. I tried doing full terms online but couldn't hack it when my kids were younger (not old now-3yo and 19 months -CLOSE) I did all but chemistry and micro pre reqs online. I did most of the work at night and had lots of sleepless nights. My hubby works alot and I remind people constantly that say I'm SAHM that I'm also a college student needing good grades. I can't do playgroups EVERYDAY or just go out.

Who's applying for the Fall 2006 semester?
I heard about the cutoff when I took the test at Kent. Not sure How reliable. Last semester people in the program said it was 185. I read in the paper that they are adding 48 more slots for the fall semester:) I think it is torture to have to wait TWO months for the letter.......or lack thereof
-
Hey
Welcome!!! I'm also waiting for the acceptance letter (or lack there of) from FCCJ!!! I drive myself batty counting and recounting my points.

Don't Rough My Newborn Up!!!!!!!
I had to comment on this thread though I'm not a nurse (YET) . When my daughter was born, my dad and mother came to the nursery just in time to see her ped do the exam. My dad almost came through the window he was upset that the doctor looked to be hurting her legs and of course, she was screaming. He still hates that pediatrician. I blame it on my dad's age (71 at the time) and the fact that was his first grandchild. The pediatrician came to the room laughing that there was some man glaring at him while he was checking our daughter out and thought it looked like a first time grandpa. That pediatrician is still one of my favorites.

Who's applying for the Fall 2006 semester?
I'll be applying to only one school (FCCJ) this fall. I hope I have enough points. I heard last semester's cut off was 185 and now I hear for fall the cut off is at 189. I have more that that so I'm pretty happy!

Lewis dot structure/atomic cores?
I am doing a "lab" on these and cannot figure it out. Are their any websites out there to help explain. ex. write the atomic cores for potassium and chloride ions. Then write the Lewis symbols for each ion. I cannot seem to figure out what the atomic core is and how to do the symbols for the ions..........

Adoption Issues
I so feel for you. My parents had an open adoption. DISASTER and still is. My biological parents try to guilt me into being part of them and discredit my adoptive parents. I feel some open adoptions may work but the biological mother has to step back and know her place. Some of the bio. moms like to have their cake and eat it too

I have a surname. I'd like to use it.
As a police officer's wife, I would prefer him to be called by his first name. I will want to go by my first name too at work. I will use the name Ms./Mr. to the elderly as patients. I call close elderly friends Ms. Mr. First name. We have unlisted phone number and court documents blocked from viewing online. Still hasn't stopped three of his arrests this year alone to come by my house. I have security cameras now installed. One started banging on the door at 1 am. (hubby was working) One was sitting in front of my house when I came from my mom's funeral (they found his name in her obituary, sat outside the funeral home and followed my friends to the house who were going to set up family lunch). And one irate woman started screaming obscenities and disrobing one day. All went back to jail and have restraining orders against them. Did my husband do anything wrong? No, he justs arrested them and they probably lost job/relationship/money and acting out. As nurses, patients can find a grudge for almost anything. I prefer people NOT to know my last name. I'm sure many people that have been found, stalked would agree. Sorry, I'd rather have personal safety than respect of Ms./Mr. /Nurse/Officer. Easily found through a database or down at the clerk office PUBLIC INFO!! They have even found out his yearly salary.

nclex-practice online?
I know they are completely different. There is a practice nclex website that has practice nclex exams and they also have practice nursing school exams for the NET and Nat and some others. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried it for the entrance exam ?
