What it's like to wake up during surgery
I've always had a tolerance to anesthesia. I woke up once...sat straight up however, it wasn't noticed right away. Here's what I experienced. The thing I remember the most is seeing those bright OR lights and seeing people in crinkly, blue, paper outfits. Now, I get these flashbacks whenever I am hooked up to the anesthesia; or see anyone in that classic "surgery blue."

Night Shift PDNs....
Hmmm....I know that we are just fine with the nurses using our WiFi. Sitting there in a quiet house when everyone else is sleeping, there's barely any sound except from the white noise of a vent, fighting against your body's natural sleepy-time rhythm can be pretty tough. It's either that or stare at the four walls all night long.

Important development
I am very thankful for these types of medicines. I'd tried everything. You think of it, I've probably tried it. From attempting to "not feed the bad wolves," to counseling for 2 years straight. Some of those methods did work but not as well as I needed them to. Finally, I got fed up that nothing was working and went to get some help. Thank goodness I did. Now I'm a happy, happy person!

What To Do About False Notes and Charting
Sorry about not responding sooner. I am on the patient side of things. :) Sorry for the confusion.

What To Do About False Notes and Charting
Nurses have told me that they will take me to their house "just for fun." This made me veeerry uncomfortable. Of course, I told my parents about it. But, I'm lucky, I can talk. What if the kiddo couldn't talk? There's been some pretty scary stuff out there and someone's got to protect them.

Well, don't come back
Mmmm....that's not cool! For us, if a nurse had swapped shifts and something came up and the other nurse couldn't make it, well....that was it. We dealt with it all by ourselves. Sometimes, ya gotta give a little to get a little. :)

"Wasteful Nurses"
I don't mind what my nurses do, just as long as they can hear me and are able to help me if I need it. I also believe that it's okay for there to be a comfy chair or whatnot to sit on. That's a pretty long time to be uncomfortable.

A Chance At The Game Called Life
When I was born, doctors said I wouldn't live to see 6 months. Dead before I had a chance to live. My mother was going through all the efforts associated with birth. So far, everything was going all right. Mom was going to welcome a beautiful, healthy baby girl into the world. Or so she thought. After she had been pushing for a while, the doctor got this look in his eyes. He rushed out and and got a whole bunch of people. It was terrifying! As soon as I got stabilized, I was whisked off to the NICU where my life began. In and out of sickness, in and out of health, in and out of life. Too many surgeries to count. Hospitals were my home. I wasn't supposed to live but those doctors worked on me for the longest time. Making sure that I had a fighting chance. And guess what?!?! They did it! It was touch and go for a while but not anymore. Now I'm at home with my family and friends. Now I'm out of the hospital and ready to take on life! Pronounced dead before I was even born. I wasn't supposed to even make it out of the hospital. And yet, here I am. To be alive, is to be blessed. Thanks for giving me a chance to enjoy life. I'm forever grateful to all you guys. Thank you! Thank you everyone for fighting for me. For giving me a second chance at this game called life.
