  1. I had one NM that we just could not work together. I knew her before she became our floors manager and we hated each other way back. So when she became the boss I put in my notice. Best move I could have made. ( our kids went to kindergarten together & had issues so we ended up.............yeah long story )
  2. Did home health for a long time. Loved it. I think you get more respect since you are alone out there with only your wits and creativity to utilize. I always felt well respected. But the most important thing is that you enjoy it.
  3. I was needing a change and had no idea what I wanted to try. So I thought back to my clinicals and I had loved my psych rotation. A friend of mine who did prn at the hospital said she did prn at a psych facility and that it was a good place to work. I applied and the rest is history. I fell in love with psych nursing.
  4. I would just call asap and say you saw the number on caller ID.
  5. That is why we love our pharmacists and calculators. I got a tutor in school even though I am not bad with numbers. But for some reason I was bad with drip calculations. I know that makes no sense to me either but we all have our strengths & weaknesses. If it is something you are passionate about, don't let anything stop you.
  6. In deed good team members can make all the difference. I have 2 wonderful techs that totally rock.
  7. So last weekend I had 14 patients to just myself and 2 techs. I hear this weekend will be the same. There are 15 for tomorrow. Now I have been a nurse a long time but this seems a bit much. Some of the patients are medical too as well as being psych. Would you consider this unsafe too or am I getting cranky in my old age?
  8. I just admitted one of my favorite frequent fliers today. I enjoyed every minute of the admit.
  9. I have worked with a couple. I am way to old to go back to school but if I were 15 years younger...................................
  10. OMG, I have done all that, have a box of gloves and a face/mouth guard in case I need to do CPR somewhere. LOL
  11. Glad my employer does have the house supervisor replace us or offer to buy us dinner ( on them ) if we do get stuck working a double. We also get extra 3.00 an hour in that situation. But it still stinks if you have to go to class or my next job.
  12. I worked with a new grad in the ER. She had been a LPN in LTC for 4-5 years and got her RN. She had no problems getting the hospital position.
  13. Heck, I would do part time LTC and part time something else while getting my BSN and then try back into med-surg/hospital nursing. I wish you the best though.
  14. At somepoint we have all made a mistake. It speaks highly of you that you took ownership of it. Let it go now. I like what ONCRN63 said. Print it out, then shred & burn it.
  15. Georgia will endorse if more than 1800 hours nursing experience. I just got my license from them. Just be warned they are incredibly slow in processing everything and letters of reference helps. Get letters from your director of nursing specifically stating you are clinically ok and that you have good critical thinking skills as well.
