Does LPN is really dying ? All places only hiring RNs ?
I just heard a rumor that LPNs are coming back to a hospital here in Michigan.. otherwise they are usually in LTC.

Extremely Overweight Nurses
- Can I wear my scrubs to an interview?
I don't see an issue with it, I'd just apologize and explain when you get there.- Extremely Overweight Nurses
Yes... it is all Osama Bin Laden's fault for the fat people in the world... Damn you Bin Laden and you making us fat, from the grave...- Why did I think this was going to be easier?
I know it just feels like I'm over my head. I have no intention on quitting. Just with level 1 coming to an end there are so many tests/exams and clinical competency coming up... Just overwhelming.- Extremely Overweight Nurses
I'm super skinny and a huge bad example I guess. I drink mountain dew regularly... As we speak actually, I eat junk, I don't exercise much... I am skinny though.. so I'm good... I was soooo worried. No.. I know overweight people who are 100 times healthier then me.. I'm unhealthy and working on it for me not for other people and you shouldn't be judging others.. it is none of your business or much less care if a nurse is obese or.not.- Why did I think this was going to be easier?
I am so overwhelmed. I feel like I am a week behind on my school work (I'm not, just feeling like I have so much to do and not enough time). I am in an accelerated program, 12 month program. I have about a month and a few days left of level 1 and I cannot wait. I feel like when I signed up and got accepted this was going to be easier. I have no idea what I was thinking. This is so stressful and I am on the verge of crying all the time. We are losing classmates every week now and that doesn't help my anxiety due to the fact that these people could have made wonderful nurses and were working really hard. I am hoping it gets better.- Fired!
- Is it really a violation of H.I.P.P.A. law to share your concerns with the doctor?
I don't see how discussing the patient with his doctor is a HIPAA violation... I think your supervisor is mad you called the doctor and not listen to him and deal with it.- I was fired today (I think??)
What I don't understand is why would you apply for your job... Didn't you do that already... Since you work there... Sounds like he fired you but didn't have the .... To tell you.- HIPAA Help
My understanding is it is okay as long as they are okay as being listed.- Confused..
Sounds like you're not officially in the nursing program (I could be wrong). So when you're done with your prereqs you'll have to apply to the program or you'll be on a wait list, depending on how your school does that.- Should I get a nice car as a new LPN/LVN?
Unless your plate reads "NewLVN" then I think you're okay.- Fired!
Where I live it is not legal to ask an employer when they do a verification if they were let go or quit. They can ask if the person can be re-hired. They also cannot tell anyone why they were fired. Doesn't mean they don't but legally they should not be.- Lateral Violence
I dealt with this for a year at my last job (not a nursing job) with multiple people. Anywhere from sexual harassment to people spreading rumors and calling me names to other people. When I reported (many times) nothing happened. When I got fed up after one jealous coworker calling me not so nice names.. I was told because of my reputation, I will not be taken seriously and my reports won't be taken seriously. I quit. In Michigan you can collect unemployment for repeatly reporting this and nothing happening which forced you to quit. I'd look into it because if it isn't going to get better there isn't much you can do. Short from suing and getting a lawyer.- What is the process for getting into your school's LVN program?
My program wasn't too hard. 1) fill out application, get your high school and any college transcripts and have to have a 2.0 or higher 2) pay 40$ to take the HESI test and score a 75% on the math, reading, composition, and launguage. And write a 250 word essay as to why you want to be an LPN. 3) pass a background and finger print check. I think that's it. They only take 30 people and its based on points. You get so many points per thing you have. After class started I needed shots and a CPR card as well.- Help!! Looking for ways to afford program
Scholarships and grants!! 2000 is a lot better then what I have to pay (33,000) so if you have to take out a loan it won't be the end of the world- Nursing school is no joke!
It is pretty overwhelming. I actually had this talk with a few classmates and an instructor today that we are on week 8/9 and we have 3 papers due in the next 5 - 6 weeks, we have 2 tests in the next 4 weeks, we have homework and clinicals to worry about on top of that. That doesn't even count if we are having family/home issues as well. One classmate said "If you quit now, April 18th will come and you will be like 'dang I could be done by now' and you'll probably regret it". Which is completely true.. thinking positive help!!- First day of class!!
Yup very fast paced. Our classes range. Some classes being a few weeks (2-5 weeks) and some being 15 weeks (fundamentals) super crazy and a lot to take in at one time. Good luck :)- Get LPN through Tech School vs Community College?
I am going to a tech school and still plan on getting my RN eventually, the reason I am going is because they have the best NCLEX pass rate compared to any other school in my area. I think this is because of all the hands on experence and my school also offers a review course for the NCLEX after you graduate. I am paying around 34,000 dollars for my program though, where as some of the community colleges charge around 4,000 dollars to 10,000 dollars. I feel better paying more knowing my chances of passing the NCLEX is higher and I get so much hands on experence.- Would you take this job?
I never worked a job where if the break was paid that you could leave the premise..- any nurses with scoliosis
I think it depends on the person. I have it as well and mine never bothers me as a CNA... I'm not too worried as a nurse it bothering me.- Whats wrong with working in a nursing home?
I like nursing homes (well I've only worked at one... So I should say I liked the only one I worked at a lot) as a CNA. I don't see me having any issues being happy there as a LPN. I think it really depends. There are still LPN jobs in hospitals here in Michigan but not as many as RN's..- If you have been accepted into a LPN program...
I didn't take the TEAS V, I took the HESI, so I don't know if it will help, but mine over all was like 60% and I got in. However they only looked at 4 or 5 sections and of those I scored 88% and above.- Mandated reporting outside of work
I believe it depends on the state, I am pretty sure in Michigan we have to report no matter where we are. - Can I wear my scrubs to an interview?
