  1. Help!!! How can an experienced med/surg nurse get a job?

    That's really crazy!
  2. According to your post your assignment is to interview a nurse. Posting questions on this site is not interviewing. You will find a lot more helpful information by following your instructor's assignment and actually interview a nurse. Good luck.
  3. Pain medicine and bone mets

Woogy. Absolutely! It's been a long time since I worked in hospitals, but the good, secure in themselves physicians always listened to the nurses. We were their eyes and ears so they respected our observations and suggestions. At least that is my exp...
  4. Willing to move across country, help?

Actually you would and should mind being paid only $15.00 an hour as an RN! Sounds like you are a hard worker and you don't want to sound desperate. Lots of nurses are having a hard time finding employement, but you have a professional nursing job an...
  5. Should I accept?

I don't understand if you are being offered a position that you and employer have not discussed specifics such as pay and hours. If it were me I would want more information. You need to ask about these matters to help you make a decision. Also, if yo...
  6. I was fired by an MA at orthopedic clinic

A medical assistant calling herself a nurse is illegal in Arizona. Only RNs and LPNs can legally be called nurses. To call a medical assistant a nurse is misleading to the public and harmful to the image of professional nurses.
  7. Where do I find CM jobs?

Hospice firms have RN case managers.
  8. Triage and Assessment Abbreviation

This system is not working properly. My apologies to the person who did enter the post.
  9. Triage and Assessment Abbreviation

  10. I'm out

I hear you goldberryRN! Hospice is such a wonderful program so it is a darn shame when somehow it is thought that personnel can continue to function in the conditions you describe. I wish you well!
  11. Hospice...hostile and toxic work environment!

Sounds like the problem is that your employer is not providing you with a cell phone or device like a Blackberry so you have to use your own private cell phone. This is dangerous for your patients besides keeping you potentially tied to your job 24/7...
  12. Update on fraudulent visits

Thanks for the update and thanks for all your hard work. That 'nurse' needs to lose her license and be sent to prison. Hopefully she never cares for another patient! Please let us know what happens next!
  13. Fraudulent visits - yes I brought it up!

So the question remains what do we do when we know there is Medicare fraud? The situation as described does not seem to even need to be proved given that actually doing that number of visits is not humanly possible! Do we want to keep hospice as a Me...
  14. Dear Cheaters

I was never aware of any of my classmates cheating in nursing school, but it seems we are living in a different world where ethics are ignored. Hopefully I am wrong, but that is how it feels to me. What bothers me about nursing students cheating is w...
  15. Do nurses get unemployment benefits?

Arizona has a one week waiting period and pays very low unemployment benefits. Only one state pays less. But when one is laid off every little bit helps!
  16. Observation of the day

Sounds like you had some demanding patients. I know what you mean, but logically this is probably an example of a 'glittering generality' and should be avoided. Better not to put people in boxes!
  17. Anyone else dealing with this?

It is totally inconsiderate and unprofessional. Also, I am thinking this practise is illegal. If you are scheduled to work and they send you home they should be paying you for a half day. It appears that the Federal Government may be back in business...
  18. HELP pls.. advice anyone

I agree with the two previous comments. Even though we nurses are usually not English majors like Garrison Keilor it is really difficult to read such poorly written comments. That said, traveling nurses need to have at least one years professional nu...
  19. Why do you say pee instead of urinate?
  20. Couldn't believe he did this...

This whole situation is just so wrong on so many levels! This obviously conscientious employee is doing her best and being paid nearly nothing for her efforts while the other sits on his butt. The patients are not getting proper care and yet their fa...
  21. Couldn't believe he did this...

Guttercat, In assisted living facilities the medications are given by med techs which have less training than CNAs. Assisted living facilities can be small home like facilities or much larger. In the larger facilities the manager may be an LPN. There...
  22. Occupational health nursing is totally different from occupational or physical therapy. Occupational health nursing involves Registered Nurses who provide nursing care to employees in industrial settings such as factories and construction sites. Besi...
  23. Another criminal conviction? Only the RN part and hospital experience? Just feels right? How would you know? Better to stay with the law.
  24. What about the other issue of this nurse being off the floor for cigarette smoking?
  25. SOOOO HOT AT WORK!!

    Wow! That was rude!
