  1. So how is the program in St Pete? The reviews are unsettling.
  2. Which program in FL? Miramar or St Pete?
  3. Any recent information on this school? Where do they do clinicals?
  4. Any idea on how many student they accept for each cohort? I wont be able to get my completed application in until at least December and have all the pre-reqs save one. My last transcript is what will cause the delay. I have been eyeing the progam at MSJ sine it was a MN program in 2007 and I am thrilled that it is now an MSN. I really think this is the direction I am being lead. I am so ready to get on to nursing school and get going with things as I have put this off for so long.
  5. Is the August start date still a four semester program.? If you start in August 2013 you finish in December 2014?
  6. Hi. I am applying to the MAGELIN program for 2013. I thought the program only had one start date in May? Is there an option of a start in August? Did things change? Thanks.
  7. Hi. I'm looking at the Direct Entry MSN at the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati.
  8. Hello, I was wondering if anyone here has recently done this program or thinking about attending. It is a 15 month program at the College of Mount St Joseph in Cincinnati. I applied and was set to go awhile back, but did not go for many reasons. Here again I am interested. If anyone else is thinking about MSJ or at MSJ, let's talk.
  9. May I have the name of your real estate agent? Thank you.
  10. Yeah I don't undertand it either, but I sent Ms Englemann an e-mail asking her why. Well at least you will be all settled come Spring. I will be on the Semester at Sea program from August-Dec, so I really don't want to get a place until December, but I would sign a lease now so I could have everything settled. Is your place a high rise? Near school? Pet friendly?
  11. Are you moving up and taking the apartment now, then?
  12. So they are asking me to send a copy of my birth certificate. I don't understand why. Did they ask anyone else for a birth certificate?
  13. I think I would prefer living close to school to, even though I know we'll have to move around for clinicals, it will give me some security that first quarter. 2 puppies, a ferret and a boyfriend? Wow. I just have to wrangle my two cats, but they are good travellers.
  14. Kanhosa, SoAnxious, have you guys settled on apartments yet? Are you trying to live near to school?
  15. So many of us are moving long distances to go to Drexel, I thought we should have a thread about living arrangements. Roomates, neighborhoods, apartment buildings, transportation, all of it. Of course, you should not list personal email addresses, but we can still share.
  16. Anyone started looking for places to live yet? I want to move up to Philly in January to take a Biology classes (to finish up some other work I was doing) and to get acclimated to my surroundings. I want to find a place this summer as apartment hunting is so much easier in summer than it is in Jan. Since I will be travelling Aug-Dec, I've really want this squared away by the end of July. Even if I don't move in until Dec or Jan I would at least like to put in my application and sign a lease. I have two cats who are well trained, so I have to know I have to look early. Anyone fins anything?
  17. Hey Cheesetoe, Do you mind PM'ing me info on your apartment? I'l be starting Drexel in the Spring of 2011, but I want to get my apartment at least squared away now as I will be travelling August-December and moving up to Philly in Jan. Thanks. If anyone knows and would like to share other buildings they have found, let me know.
  18. I am. If I don't get into Wilke's U. Pro-MS, it will be Drexel come next Spring! At least I'll have time to wait tables and earn money in my hospital job to get a car and find a decent safe place to live in Philly.
  19. Bump? Anyone form Mount Saint joe?
  20. You're right, there are lots of choice. Helping you pick the best program for you would be nearly impossible. Consider your circumstances when choosing your program 1. Do I need financial aid? 2. Can I get financial aid for a second bachelor's degree in my state or only form graduate study (a directy entry program? 3. How much am I willing to spend? 4. Are my state RN programs impacted with long waitlists? 5. Am I able to move to attend school? 6. What are my ultimate career goals? I hope this helps.
  21. Unethical or sleezy? Heck no! My dad told me early on to never short change myself when it came time to negotiate pay. Always counter every pay offer! If you have the skills ask for that money (heck, I'd ask for $2 more to give myself some wiggle room!)
  22. I'm a Certified Surgical Tech. I have no kids, but I can fill you in on the job details. Some of the places I've worked staff 24/7 hours with no calls and no weekends if you are not on that shift. Usually those are LARGE hospitals in big cities. Most techs do take call, but you know ahead of time when you will be on call and you can plan accordingly. It is just like a scheduled shift. OR people learn quickly to get caller ID and not answer the phone when they are not on call and away from work! LOL!!! If you have plans on going on the nursing school, I would recommend you go straight on to RN school. I LOVE being a tech. I have travelled, taught, made excellent money and learned loads. Even still, I recommend going straight RN for folks with those goals in mind. For you it would mean just one period of seperation from your son. Make sure whatever CST school you choose it is FULLY accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES (with CAAHEP being your first choice). It is important to ensure that a diploma/degree from your school will allow you to sit the certifying exam. You can work without certification, but it is a important extra that may make you more marketable. Talk to schools about clinical locations and guidelines. If it is a night program, will CLINCIAL be at night? Most hospitals prefer students during the day because the night shift is usually very slow OR full of "knife, and gun club" members. It is hard for a student scrub to learn in the middle of a trauma case. Additionally, you ideally want your clinical throughout your program and not tacked on at the end as an "externship". I admire your courage for going fo that better life. http://www.ast.org
