  1. Well I have been in since Jan of 2014. Had to repeat Pharmacology and currently in Med Surg. I am going to w/d for a while as I am having money issues with the school and I can't attend school until its resolved. A little disappointed about how it was handled and I am a little bit aggravated at the school right now. As far as the curriculum, its hard as I was a A/B student and if I get anything over a 70 I am happy. I wish they had better clinical sites as they are all nursing homes. I am not an LPN so I don't have the clinical skills and I would have liked to have experienced a hospital setting. Maybe after they get accreditation, they will be able to get other sites. I plan to go back to work and transfer to the online program. It'll take me a lot longer, but since I paid for it, its harder for me to start over somewhere else and have to pay all that money again and since they are STILL not accredited, I can't transfer my credits so basically I am stuck. I just want to pass the NCLEX and figure out my BSN later.
  2. Just turned 50 in September and set to begin my first class on the 21st of January. Excited and scared at the same time. After 30 years in the corporate world, I am ready to take on my dream!
  3. I have an appointment on 1/7. I have lots of questions. Hopefully I will like the answers and this works out for me. I am on my 2nd career so I don't have time to waste waiting for a HCC or SPC and I really don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on private as I want to get my BSN, MSN and then Nurse practitioner degree. Thats a lot of tuition still to pay... Thanks for the input.
  4. Has anyone attended this school? It is approved and licensed by the nursing board of fl but not accredited. And I will be eligible to take my NCLEX at the end of the program. Will the fact that it is not accredited pose problems for me later on as far as further schooling and job placement. My goal is eventually becoming an NP. I have a BA in another field and this RN program completes in 13 months. I have an appointment next Tuesday at the school so I will ask questions, but I'd like opinions if anyone has attended or graduated for there. Thanks in advance!
  5. I have a bachelors degree in another field and I want to get my degree in Nursing. There are limited options in the Tampa area unless you want to pay big bucks for a private school. Should I get my LPN and then study for my LPN to BSN bridge online? I am currently getting all my pre-reqs done and should be done by summer, but I now I have to plan way ahead of time for the limited nursing school spots. Since do not plan on working while in school, I am looking for the quickest way to working in a hospital. While getting my pre-req done, I am also getting my phlebotomy certification. Trying to cover all my bases. Also, does any one know of any hospitals in the Tampa/St Pete area that are willing to pay for a BSN in exchange for a work commitment of so many years?
  6. I am considering a career change. After being in the business world for a number of years, i have decided that it is not for me. I have a BA in Technology Management and last year began a program for my Masters in Clinical Counseling. While I am enjoying the classes, I have always wanted to be a nurse an find myself changing my collegiate path as well. Essentially, I am looking for the quickest cost effective way to become an RN. Since I already have a degree, I have been researching the programs that are geared for those of us with bachelors degrees. There were two that maybe doable one is Remington (very expensive and 1.45 hours from where I live but more lax in admissions) and USF who is a bit more picky. Problem is that my undergrad GPA is 2.97 and the minimum is 3.0. Not sure if I would even be considered at USF. I am planning on taking the pre-reqs at HCC to get a head start on what I need. There is also South University but the cost is also obscene but I will get done in 14 months. I am open to other avenues toward a BSN. My other concern is transferability of credits as I plan to get my MSN toward becoming a NP. That being said, many of the techical colleges are expensive and offer on ADN and not all of their credits are transferable--that is what I heard and I am not sure if that is true or not. Thanks for the advice!
