how many medications cure? most only mask symptoms and sometimes the side effects are worse than the illness or symptoms that they treat. people go to the doctor with a complaint, the doctor puts them on a medication and before long they're on another med to treat side effect of the first one before long they're on 10 meds with a whole lot of polypharm happening

I knew i could go right thru excelsior directly but the admissions person i talked to was so rude i decided to go through a publishing company. They're helpful and the studyguides are great.

nursewendy 2000 I'm in the same boat as you (single with 3 kids) I've looked but have found no other way to pay for tests except out of pocket, so it'll take me awhile to get nc1-7 done. Now that I have my materials I'm happy with rue.

nursing scope of practice is regulated by the board of nursing. Each state has its own act.

I too think it is the choice of the individual. I am currently using RUE with no regrets I considered and spoke with college network and excelsior directly. I chose RUE and I don't regret it. Use whatever means you need to get it done.

I was taught trach care and suctioning should be done with sterile tech. A nurse at work says it isn't sterile but clean. Which is right?

I too get tension and migraine headaches I went from getting one every 2-3 months to weekly. I started seeing a chiropractor and was headache free for a year I just recently started getting them again and again started going to chiropracter. there is also a dr called a cranial/sacral therapist.

Honestly, for me personally after 1-2 yrs of breastfeeding I want my body back I breastfed my oldest for about 15mo but at a year i started weaning it took about 3mo I didn't want to stop ubruptly. I remember when I was in girlscouts I think I was about 10 my troop leader would nurse her 4 yr old when he asked her to and I remember thinking this is weird. I never knew any difference or had any society formed prejudgements about it. Personally I never really Knew anyone who was breastfed I was the youngest and my mother never breastfed us. I don't think it has anything to do with anything sexual I just think I guess it all boils down to preference. bf that long is just not for me. It's great to breastfeed if you can a lot of people choose not to. Maybe this is do to a lack of education during pregnancy about bf I was never even offered to see a lactation specialist any of the three times I was in having my kids, would have been nice with my first one because I hadn't a clue but I figured it out on my own. A few weeks after I had my youngest a friend of mines daughter had a baby (only 16) but she wanted to try to breastfeed the nurse brought her in a hosp pump showed her how to turn it on and that was all the education she got, she nursed for about a week and gave up.

I totallly agree with nocrumping 1-2 years is long enough in my opinion to breastfeed. Earlier when i wrote breast is best some said it isnt always best because of preterm babies drugs etc.. i thought the question was general not about breastfeeding neonate's or drug abusers. . And it is NORMAL and NATURAL to nurse a child between 2-5 years. It's what we were designed to do as human beings. What is common sense to you, and a lot of other people, is misinformation to those who have done the research and have read the information. Just an FYI, the part of my post that referred to "common sense" , was not about "extended " breastfeeding, it was about formula being a tabu, with detriment to an infant who is *not* adequately breastfeeding. And just because it is deemed safe and natural to nurse a child well into the 5th year, that doesnt mean it is accepted by everyone......"research" has nothing to do with that.....And, we were "designed" as human beings to do that, when we had no other means..... A 3-5 year old child has the means to nourish/comfort themselves. A woman can keep her milk supply for as many years as she is nursing... do you recommend the child nurses well into adulthood? There should be a certain time to seriously consider weaning, and I think it should be *WELL* before the 4th year!!!!! This has NOTHING to do with any research you may quote. And I am well aware of the Laleche League's position. No hard feelings, honestly. As irritated as you are to hear my comments, I am just as "irritated" to hear that a child at 3,4,5 yrs old is still breastfeeding. To me, there is a lot that is wrong with that ideology. Social/sexual stigma regardless, we live in a time where these things *are* relevant to our everyday life. And, by the way, I am pro breastfeeding, but I think it should be a primary source of nutrition for an infant. Not for an actual CHILD. We could go round and round for days on this, but my firm opinion, is this: BREASTFEEDING A CHILD INTO THEIR 5TH YEAR, IS TURNING SOMETHING (breastfeeding) THAT IS HEALTHY, NATURAL AND BEAUTIFUL, INTO SOMETHING STRANGE..........

just curious does anyone know the success rate of cpr on the elderly? I've never known anyone in their 80's or 90's to live after having cpr

I have sucsessfully breast fed two children and am now breastfeeding my third. Breastmilk is what nature intended and is in every case the best food for your baby. Humans are the only species of animal that feeds it's young milk from another animal (a elephant does'nt feed its young girraff's milk). None of my babies have ever had nipple confussion. You can express milk and refridgerate or freeze it, but you cannot refreeze breastmilk or warm it in the microwave. None of my kids ever took a pacifier.

I work in longterm care in mich.. Our socialworker and DON say if you didnt see they're last breath don't start cpr. Have only ran one code in 5yrs i've been there. If they're a full code we try to ship them as soon as we can if they have a change in cond. I would never do cpr on someone with rigormortis.yuck

You all have me worried, I signed up with rue publishing for my RN. Are you saying I might get all the way through and not be able to take the NCLEX? I live in MI

I JUST SIGNED UP WITH RUE. I DEBATED WHETHER OR NOT TO JUST GO THRU EXCELSIOR BUT FINANCING WAS MUCH BETTER THRU RUE I KNOW IN THE LONG RUN I'LL PROBABLY SPEND MORE BUT ITS THE ONLY WAY I CAN AFFORD IT :uhoh3:THEY WILL PAY FOR EXCELSIORS PORTION AS LONG AS YOU STICK TO THEIR PAYMENT PLAN AND NOT SCREW UP. THEY HAVE PAYMENT PLANS WITH NO INTREST.

where I work as an LPN we can access/deacess ports and Rn's can pull central lines. guess it depends on policies and procedures
