  1. You don't need Chemistry to pass the Med Math. They will teach you the formulas to use and some of it is common sense (like how many tablets). You are able to review and see what you got wrong. The majority of the teachers are more than willing to help you understand and go over the formulas with you individually if you make an appointment with them during their office hours. Don't stress over it!
  2. Just a heads up...do not try to plan your schedule around a particular clinical day just yet. You will not pick your clinical day until registration. Also, anyone who is attending the program and living outside of Montgomery County, there is a waiver that you can get called the Maryland Health Manpower Shortage. This will allow you to pay in county tuition rates. The forms must be picked up in the nursing office and turned into the registration office. Be sure to do it the first week or two of class (or when you register). Best of luck, speak up if you need help or advice.
  3. MCapplicant, no worries on where you get in with taking those classes. They will all transfer for your BSN even is you go through MC's ADN program. MC has several transfer agreements with other colleges for your BSN/MSN.
  4. I was wondering what the starting salary is I will have a little bit of a commute but it is an amazing opportunity I just want to make sure the salary will be worth it. I have not applied yet, I am in the process right now. Thanks for the info!
  5. Hello! I interested in the WHC residency program. I was wondering if anyone could share the starting salary and differentials? I'm also wondering if those of you who were hired got the units you were hoping for? Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  6. As far as the math test, it is not Med Math, used to be ProCalc. You have to take it in the MLC at the campus. You will get several attempts to pass it, be sure to pay attention to rounding rules. Personally I never used the Calculate With Confidence book. This is a link for a free PDF download of a Nursing Care Plan Book, no need to buy one you can download this and save it to your computer or tablet (or phone). http://taskurun.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/nursing-care-plan-guidelines-for-individualizing.pdf
  7. Rent when you can, its so much cheaper!
  8. Yes, the program has gone through many changes. You will need to be extremely flexible and save time out for things like lab hours and such. Just take it one day at a time and you will get through.
  9. Thanks. They are still using Fentons. I got the style number for the pants, just trying to find the best deal I can.
  10. Can you tell us the uniform brand and style numbers?
  11. Can anyone that is currently in the program tell me the brand and style number of the uniform pants and top? Thanks in advance!
  12. I live on coffee too!! I work FT as an ER Tech at one Hospital and per diem at another. Needless to say I'm going to have to give some of this up. Does anyone know how many days a week the program is?
  13. I have all of the required shots done and my CPR is current, I need them for my job. Does anyone know what the insurance requirement is? I think a Facebook group is a great idea! MaddyG I will friend you if that is ok.
  14. Congratulations to everyone. I look forward to meeting you all on the 9th!
  15. woohoo!! Just got my acceptance letter in the mail!!
  16. I applied on September 21st. I did not look into Montgomery College until August 4th only to see that the application deadline was the 1st for the Spring program. Then I went back to the website on around September 17th. I scrambled to get my TEAS done and all of my info together and was able to submit my application on the 21st. I called yesterday and asked when they expected to send out notifications and was told the last week of October or the first week of November. I
  17. Thanks for the info. I took the TEAS on Friday and submitted my application on Friday so we will see. I have all of the priority courses completed. I just need to take an arts and Micro. My TEAS scores were ok, from what I saw on the information sheet they look for a Reading score of 78% and an overall score of 66% as their cutoffs. I got a 90.5% on the reading and a 72% overall.
  18. Did you ever find out if this was the case? They have extended the Spring 2013 Application Deadline until September 21st and I am wondering if that was because they had less applicants than anticipated?
  19. Does anyone have any idea of the number of applicants, number accepted and wait list? Specifically for the Spring Program?
  20. It depends greatly on your state regulations and facility policies. As and ER Tech I do basic ADL/patient care, IV insertion, blood draws, foleys, EKG's, vitals, assist physicians with procedures such as LPs and sutures. It is a great job if you want to see and learn a lot.
  21. I would check with your state and/or hospital regulations. While the EMT is a great background for working in the ER and looks good on your application...where I live you must be a CNA to work there. Also I have found that it helps to follow up your application with a phone call to HR, sometimes HR can drop the ball. Good luck!
  22. I'm not sure about the difference in states but here in MD it is basically a different title used by different facilities. Some call them PCTs some call them Nurse Techs some call them Nursing Assistants. They all have the same CNA license through the state.
