Is WGU just another money muncher?
I will have my MSN from WGU this summer, and I chose the school because of its non-profit status and because it requires REAl work to get a degree---they are NOT for sale, like many online schools. Can't speak to the credits transfering or not, as I started at WGU with a BSN and a BA in a non-medical field.

Certified Nurses Day excluding people
No one EVER sends me a Mother's Day card......waaaahhhh I'm offended!!! Have we turned into such socialists that anyone who stands above the crowd must be mowed down to size????

Why Do People Bully Me?
I would start keeping notes ASAP....dates, times, and names of others present. Ver BAtim. For every missed med, an incident report. This sort of pit bull cannot respond to kindness...he gets his rocks off being a "bad dude". Clearly, he will leave this job, just as he has left others. I have had more than one run in with these dudes.....I scream "easy target" physically. But this "queer m-fer" does not tolerate name calling. Last person that tried the bully route is now working at Best Buy....no longer a licensed nurse.
- How do experienced nurses do it to memorize everything?

Just let me be...
HATE SPEECH??? I do believe the frigid north has made you and many of your fellows delusional. Thankfully, here in the US, we refuse to be cowed by political correctness......and have the right to express an opinion that hasn't been vetted by the thought police. Go have a cuppa, and grown a working epidermis.

Just let me be...
Thankfully, here in the US, we are still allowed to have and express opinions. "Hate Speech" ? ! ? And with a straight face??? We are not that socialist and crazily PC (yet......)

Patients who can do ADLs but want nurses to
Well, after the doc nicked my bladder during a colon resection, I had the fun of a Foley for 6 weeks while the area healed. Can't say that it was "fun".....but it DID allow me to sleep through the night, something my aging prostate does not permit me to do routinely!

Just let me be...
LPN's know the "how to". RN's know the "why". *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ (......and if I ever ask an LPN about becoming an RN, it is because s/he seems to be bright and motivated. It is a complement, not a critique)

My heart is just not in it...
You could add a short phrase about "I am not at a stage in my life to give this position the attention it deserves" ....but in your own words. It is the job equivalent of "It's not YOU, its ME!"
-
Can/Have you got a job with a degree from WGU?
Not to mention the application test.....just have my capstone to finish (MSN/Education)

Speaking About Nurses Who Moonlight As Dancers
I understand your point...mine was that standards are WAAYYYY different for officers, who must hold higher clearences EVEN to be in a medical field. Any officer in any branch of service doing this must be an expert at flying under the radar.....A bad CREDIT score can louse up an officer's career, for heaven's sake~as can known adultery!

Speaking About Nurses Who Moonlight As Dancers
[quote=edmia;7166267 I do think she's a little unrealistic about her future though. She wants to be a travel nurse after graduation and then go into the army? Sent from my iPhone using allnurses.com The military will not commission an officer who is an exotic dancer....they might take her on if she stops her "part-time" job, but getting a security clearance is going to be extremely difficult. This sort of "diversity" is anthetical to the military's world-view.

What if we had to tell the real truth when asked about our weaknesses?
"I'm smarter than you and the Unit Manager put together, but I promise to look dumb when you are around so I don't make you feel bad. ...and I enjoy leaving the toilet seat UP."
-
Do you stand up for yourself to patients?
I am willing to give patients the benefit of the doubt, but have zero tolerance with family members who are out of line. I am a big boy, and 99% of the time I can tell worry/grief/fear from being an obnoxious pig. Sadly, many Americans really do think that they have all the rights in world, without responsibilities, and can treat other humans like "things'. And before you think it due to gender, I am a pretty short, nerdy guy, and I top out at 135# on a good day...hardly Joe Macho!

Hospitals illegally firing nurses for refusing flu vaccines
I'm waiting for the Jenny McCarthy crowd to chime in any second now, since we have already mentioned "heavy metals" and the old stand-by of "I got the flu from my (attenuated) flu vaccine."
