WGU installment plans
I was in the RN-BSN program for a short time a few years ago and would like to go back. I will have to pay out-of-pocket this time around. Does anyone know exactly how the payment plan works? I need a breakdown of how much the payments would be and how many months the payments are spread over. Anyone have any idea? Thanks!

Is WGU just another money muncher?
It's really hard to tell at this point because I have no idea what it's going to be like. I know they no longer allow for the capstone to be completed with a persons first term. I'm roughly guessing from RN-MSN maybe three years? I'm obsessive about school work, so hopefully I can power threw it. So, the cost is 3250 plus 145 (3,395.00) per term, times 6 terms, comes to 20,370. Not bad considering thats for 2 degrees, BSN and MSN.

Is WGU just another money muncher?
Just wanted to update everyone... They re-evaluated my transcripts and credited me for a few more classses. So, I have gone from needing 146 cu's to complete the msn, to 86. I am happy with that and I'm excited to get started in becoming a part of the WGU family. Thank you everyone who took the time to lend me your "ears".

Is WGU just another money muncher?
Hello marycarney, I came on here looking for suggestions, support, or similar experiences to mine to help me in deciding my next step. MOST of the responses I recieved were just that. I understand you have accomplished your goals via wgu and I was not proclaiming them to be bad. I was curious however about the monstrous class load. This is how people seperate the good from the bad you know, by asking questions and doing your homework. I completely understand and accept that my bsn will not be handed to me. I am an excellent and hard working student who loves school and learning new things. My problem is that I am told that I have to take sociology AGAIN, anatomy AGAIN, (not one but three), nutrition AGAIN and two more comp classes in addition to the two I have already done, speech/communications AGAIN. You see, I too have had additional classes. My advisor, who I spoke with yesterday had done nothing to check into this as of last week when I asked her to. So, anyway, I am still trying to decide if WGU is the right fit for me, no disrespect intended towards you.

Is WGU just another money muncher?
I am (was) due to begin the RN-MSN, edu on 5-1. I have jumped threw all the hoops that is the admissions process. I am so disappointed to find out that the only classes I got credit for with my associates degree are one math, one english, and one literature. My admissions person admitted the 14 prereq classes seems a bit excessive but she has done nothing to check into the problem. My orientation opened a couple of days ago along with the twenty odd classes listed. The admissions advisor is due to call today for her weekly check-in. I am going to tell her that I will not be starting the orientation or the program if I do not get a satisfactory explanation about the huge class load. I cannot help but feel that WGU is trying to force classes that should be satisfied with my degree because of the money factor. I am so unhappy and disappointed at this point. When I read on AN about others who are starting the program with only 5-7 pre-reqs it makes me feel as if WGU is de-valuing my associates degree and its very upsetting. Is anyone else out there having this experience? Or is my Associate of Applied Science in Nursing just not as good as others?

WGU RN-BSN in 1 1/2 years??
Hi Paradisebound RN, Our similarities are many. I too am starting WGU my start date is 5/1. I work one day/week and am shooting for BSN in 6-9 months. I have not been assigned a personal mentor yet, but I hope I dont get a downer like yours seems to be. I cannot imagine why you couldnt finish in 6-9 months. Those pre-reqs arent bad. I hope that I only have four. Anyway, I would give it a little longer with this mentor and if he/she continues to be unsupportive of your goals, I would contact student services and request a different mentor. You are paying for the mentoring services so you should be able to get one who is more on board with your needs and goals. Good luck.

straighterline and ou
Hi everyone, Im starting the program this May, 2013 and am curious as to whether anyone has had any success with getting credits accepted for straighterline classes. I'm interested in getting maybe the chem and stats done before May. Any info would be much appreciated. I do not have an advisor yet to ask.

Some Info To Share......
Unfortunately, Western governors does require clinicals. I interviewed with them for the RN-BSN bridge. I live in Ohio and had plans to start OU but if they're requiring clinicals I may reconsider as this was the main selling point with me. My desire is to get my BSN completely online. I hope somewhere out there is a program that can give me what I need
