  1. 11-7 for now and there's a possibility that I may get to pick up 7-7 at a later date.
  2. I'm a new LPN who is starting nights in a LTC facility on Monday. What can I expect to do on nights? I previously worked from 3-11 and stayed busy most of the time so I'm hoping I'll be busy on nights too. I understand there's not as many meds to give on nights. Also any advice on what I should carry in my nursing bag? Advice is appreciated. Thanks.
  3. I'm in Southeastern Kentucky, about 45 miles south of Lexington. I got my first LPN job working in long term care a week and a half after passing my NCLEX back in February. It was my first interview also.
  4. Unofficial results say I passed!!!!!
  5. I took my NCLEX-PN this moring at 8am. Exam stopped at 80 something questions ( not sure of the exact number). Tried the Pearson Vue trick and got a popup saying "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your board member for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time". Is this the good popup? Thanks.
  6. I graduated on December 9th and I'm still waiting on my school to release my transcript to the Kentucky board of nursing and looks like I'm going to be waiting longer cause school was closed all last week and all this week. This wait is driving me crazy!!
  7. Hello everyone. I graduated from my LPN program on December 9th. I live in Kentucky. I have completed my application to the board or nursing for a nursing license, I have completed both background checks required, registered to take nclex, and taken and passed the Kentucky jurisprudence exam to get my provisional license. I'm waiting on the school to complete their part of the paperwork for the bon. The wait is driving me up the wall. About how long did you have to wait after graduation to take the nclex-pn? Thanks.
  8. Passed my ATI comprehensive on Monday, it gave me a 95% chance of passing NCLEX on first try. Good luck to everyone.
  9. My instructor says the ATI questions now are Nclex questions from the previous years Nclex. I've also been told that ATI is almost identical to the Nclex. I actually have a ATI comprehensive final in December at which point an ATI representative is going to meet with the class to discuss a review for the Nclex. I think you have a good chance at passing the Nclex with predictor scores like that. Good luck
  10. At my school we aren't allowed to do our preceptorship where we work. We have went to several different places during our clinicals and we were told that if we liked a certain clinical place that we should ask someone there if we could do our preceptorship there; if not we can call around or walk in and ask to speak to someone about doing our preceptorship. If you have somewhere in mind I would call and ask or maybe go in and talk to some of the nurses who work there and get their input. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
  11. Thanks everyone for the help. Instructors are just not in tune with each other or something . I was practicing wound care today in the lab and when I set up my supplies like one instructor showed me the nursing program coordinator said that I set my stuff up wrong, I should have told her that's the way I was told to do it but was too afraid to say anything
  12. What is the correct way to measure a wound without touching it? I have wound care check offs coming up and two different instructors telling the class two different things. One instructor uses a large swab to measure depth of wound and actually touches the bottom of the wound, other instructor says it's OK to use swab but not to touch any part of the wound with the swab. Whole class is confused. Someone please help.
  13. One of my instructors is married to one of his former nursing students
  14. I went out and got white thermal pants and white t shirt to wear under mine. Teacher suggested white leggings but I couldn't find any of those. I just don't like the idea of anyone being able to see my undergarments.
  15. Hi everyone. My first clinical day is scheduled for tomorrow and it's going to be a lab sim. What exactly is a lab sim? My instructor didn't explain anything, she just gave the class a copy of our clinical schedule so it's left some of us confused. Thanks.
  16. My first day of clinical is November 5th and I'm a nervous wreck but excited at the same time.
  17. You can do it. I'm started my LPN program back in August and I'm 36. I'm also a single mother of 3. Go for it.
  18. I'm finishing up week 6 tomorrow and so far have had 3 exams, which I passed . It's so exciting and nerve racking at the same time. Good luck to us all :)
  19. I also got a Littmann classic ll SE but I got mine from my college bookstore. I tried mine out as soon as I got home and I can hear through it really well.
  20. Congratulations my first day is tomorrow (today) too.
  21. I finally got my immunization record in the mail yesterday thanks to the previous college I was planning to attend back in 2006. Now I can stop stressing over that and start stressing over my first day of class which is this Monday!! Being 36 I'm nervous about sitting in class with 24 other people but so excited.
  22. A flash card app, count me in for that one! I've been watching videos on youtube about making flash cards to study with, especially in pharmacology. I hate the thought of making flash cards so I like this even though I haven't tried it yet lol. Thanks for the post. :w00t:
  23. I can breathe a sigh of relief now, the health services was able to locate my record and mailed it today so I should get it tomorrow. I feel so much better now.
  24. I have a copy of an older immunization record, it just doesn't show my most recent vaccinations. The copy I have shows my first two Hep b shots and a couple of Td shots. I had my third Hep b and a Tdap shot done at a different doctor, that's why the record I have doesn't show those and the urgent care that gave those vaccinations is saying that they lost all records from 2006 and part of 2007 due to a system crash so they can't help me. There is one more place that is supposed to have a copy of my record, a college I was planning to attend, and their health services is currently trying to find my record for me. I just talked to one of my nursing professors and she said that I can have a titer drawn for the Hep b. I called the health department in the next county over and can get a Td for $21.00 and the third Hep b for $50.00 which is cheaper than having the titer drawn. If I don't have any luck with getting my record in the next few days I'm just going to get revaccinated. As long as I have proof of all immunizations before I start clinicals in October then I'm good.
  25. Forgive me for ranting but I'm seriously freaking out. I have been unable to locate a copy of my immunization record and my LPN classes start on Monday. My last immunizations were done at a urgent care center so I contacted them in June about getting a copy of my record and was told that it would take about 30 days because they keep records at an off site location. They call me today and tell me they can't get a copy of my immunization record because of a system crash that occurred after I had them done. The two shots that I need proof of are the third Hep B and a Td. I have no insurance and just cannot afford to spend $150.00 right now. My only other option is to call my doctor and see if I can have titers drawn. Is titers available for the two shots I need? Again sorry for the rant, I'm just really frustrated.
