  1. Since I am an older nurse from the Dinasour era, this does not apply to me..but my younger friends have encountered Pharmacist who would not even fill their birth control prescriptions..it was against their religon..I thought this was against the law, apparently it is'nt..and I also would have filed a complaint with the owner of this store. Not taken the medication home..leave without paying for it..go elsewhere..and if necessary, tell next druggist you wish privacy if he has to speak to you..yes, sad as it is..some are just plain stupid..sad this must be done..learn to leave nothing to chance....we have train tracks near by..and a sign had to be posted, NOT TO PARK ON THE TRACKS..I laughed so hard..it made my day..and the world gets worse as one gets older. Had closed caption on my tv..due to loss of hearing..thought it might help me..However who ever was hired to type it..had so many mistakes typed, one could not make out what was being communicated..so had to get rid of it..hang in there..and learn to see the humor in it all...bluewillow7
  2. When child #5 arrived worked nites..hubby home..when child turned 5yrs of age found job in local school as school nurse, child went to kindergarden down the hall..it was full day kindergarden..and later did private duty care through agencies at night..home before they went to school..in summer did camp nursing..kids went free, I got ranch house with office, hubby visited weekends, but all my family could stay at house all day and night.younger ones went to camp...my other children loved being home with dad..doing mowing of lawns, keeping things tidy etc and me not hovering over them..also came weekend with dad..private duty care through agencies was a good thing for me..but one should get info on home you will be going to..always asked if agency checked out the home..weirdos everywhere...lol
  3. In Nursing School, was taught one wipe used once, wiping down and not going back..have been out of nursing for some time, but see home care patients who are diabetic recieveing through the mail, their supplies, which are coming from China, and wipes are smaller than the nail on your thumb, can barely grasp it..and even hospital beds in homes, made cheaply and not functional to meet patient need if for example feet need elevation..it raise to less than half of normal..garbage..needs investigation into this homecare area..obviously check to see where product is coming from..usually no info on package etc if from China..
  4. Now dont you know that this is USUALLY when accidents happen, patient falls while under your care, or you pull your back out while catching a falling patient, and one could go on and on..its Karma..pay attention..your family needs you..go home..and make sure your car insurance is paid, cause thats when you have accidents..when it ran out..and if you died while on your way home from working later, not covered under workers comp, and hospital wont even send a sympathy card, attend your funeral, or send money owed you to your family, whoops they forgot..dont let your heart rule your head..family comes first..
  5. As a new RN in a long term facility..worked nite shift. After one month came in and was told I would be responsible for two floors as they are short staffed. First floor had only two aides to care for patients, bed changes, etc and second floor had three aide, one of which was working with back injuries. Total of 59 patients... I had six seriously ill patients, two on thermoblankets for high fevers, two who were off the wall mentally, and had orders of .25mg of thorazine..which would not affect a flea, much less this three hundrend pound man who was manic and combative, and others were labeled "guarded".and "guarded" were more sick than all of the others....had meds for both floors..staff screaming they need more help..went to supervisor and she told me to go out onto the floor and help them..when I said it was impossible as I could not leave the the critical patients, and have meds, etc..she at first said she would try to get help. One hour later, staff asked me to call her again...when I did go to her office, found her sleeping. I said I see you are not busy, and understand by law, I can ask you to come upstairs and help.. as it was obvious she never called anyone..when she said to me..."are you refusing to help your staff " I answered, I have overload of work and and its impossible,.she answered "this sounds like insubordination..I remarked..you just used the wrong word with me...I reacted by taking the keys off my neck and put them around hers and said, now I have officially passed the responsibility of it all onto you where it belongs, and went home..also reminded her I did not abandon my patients..as she was now officially in charge and took the keys..I found better jobs and never even gave them as a reference..it was not worth my sanity...
