ABC Training Center
I'm interested in obtaining more information about the program from former students before making a financial investment. How is the training and clinical portion? How is the job search process with student services? When looking online it stated that you get a certificate for PCT from the school and can sit for the certification exam. Do you become a CNA (take the certification exam) as part of the process or would I have to pay to take my CNA exam separately after completion of the program. I ask so that in the event I can't find work as a PCT I can still work as a CNA and not just a NA because I'm not certified. All information is greatly appreciated. If there are other schools you'd recommend please feel free to share them with me. I like to keep my options open but I'm also in need of something affordable.

Monroe College Winter 2013 Nursing
Do they offer the pre requisites there or do you have to take them elsewhere. I'm interested in bridging over to RN but my school isn't credit based. We don't take BIO or CHEM. any info would be greatly appreciated :-)

Second guessing my decision
Thanks for your input everyone, I really needed to know I wasn't the only one who's had these thoughts. One day at a time :-)

Second guessing my decision
I began nursing school in September and I must say I'm unsure of my ability to see this through. I've worked really hard to get to where I am taking nearly a year to do so. I just have a lot bearing down on me all of a sudden and I don't feel like I'm even there most of the time when I'm in class. I'm not sure what to do because I refuse to quit but I don't want to waste any time either. Has anyone else felt like this before?

cnet- lpn pnat 2012
There's only math, reading, vocabulary on the cnet. You can order the study guide from the cnet nurse website. The math is pretty basic there's no trigonometry or geometry. Just fractions, decimals and stuff like that. The study guide really helps when it comes to the vocabulary words you need to study. You need to know how to spell them properly and know the definitions among other things.

Know it alls....
One thing that brings me comfort is knowing that no one knows it all no matter how smart they may be. I had one in my prep class who was so much smarter than everyone else yet she failed both entrance exams after prep. Good thing no one feed off of all the false information she was giving out. The only problem I have with KIA's are the ones who always want to challenge you and prove themselves better than you. In the end we are here to be educated and give our best to be the best. So if there's any place to be a KIA it's in school but only if you really know it. Just don't forget to admit when you're wrong and accept it, instead of trying to prove your wrong answer right.

Moms that are LPN students
I'm having an issue myself. I actually need to work and I can only realistically do this on weekends since my school schedule will be 8-4 M-F. I still have my responsibilities at home that can't be neglected. I'll leave it in the hands of the divine and hope I'll be shown a way through this. Best of luck and blessings to you all :-)

Mildred Elley NYC?
That's great to hear :-) you should invest in a Teas study guide, it helped me a lot. I can't make any recommendations about the compass I've never taken that one before. Best of luck to you :-)

Mildred Elley NYC?
No problem. Keep in mind that since AMG hasn't been around very long (I believe a year or two) you would have to cover your tuition with loans since they don't qualify to be paid with financial aid yet. When I called earlier this year I was also informed that they have their own entrance exam that they use, so if you have any Tabe, Teas, or Cnet scores it won't matter. They also have a testing fee in addition to their application fee which is about 115.00 if I remember correctly. Give them a call maybe something can be worked out or even better maybe they offer financial aid now :-) I hope this helps.

Mildred Elley NYC?
Also the school is approved by the department of education for their LPN program. For a listing of other schools visit the office of professions website. http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/nurse/

Mildred Elley NYC?
Here's the website http://www.mildred-elley.edu/academics/new-york-city-metro When I went for the open house they stated that everyone starts in with the MA curriculum. A friend of mine called and was told as of this year the programs are separate you just need to take the teas test if it's been over 1 year since testing, but it's always best to get the info for yourself. Best of luck

Fall 2012 lpn classes
September 11 @ NYCDOE LPN program Goldwater Hospital 11 months I wanted a career where I could wake up every morning knowing I would make a difference in this selfish world by being selfless and helping the sick and injured. 2500.00 but if you get one of the scholarships they offer every year then it's free

Mid manhattan/brooklyn adult lpn
Same problem. I practiced for days thinking I was going to actually be interviewed and it was more of a information session telling me everything I already knew about the program. The interviewer didn't seem to know anything about when the decision would be made. It's hard knowing there was nothing I could do to make myself stand out more for the scholarship. I guess all we can do is be optimistic and hope for the best. We did the best we could and made it this far :-).

LPN programs in NYC
HHC and the DOE offer it once a year for $2500 or free is you get the scholarship. They have 3 locations Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Roosevelt Island. Check the NYC.gov website for more info. Also google or bing office of professions and get a listing of nursing programs in NYC from HHA all the way to RN. I would suggest you cross reference any RN programs with NLN website to see if they're accredited or at the least listed for candidacy. Hope this help and best of luck :-)

GoldWater Lpn Program
I'm sorry I didn't reply to each of you individually I'm still learning to use the all nurses app lol

GoldWater Lpn Program
The next prep class for Goldwater is scheduled for January 2013 if they do it this year since the hospital that holds the prep/LPN classes is closing down. You should contact them to know for sure. The tabe testing for it is usually held about 3 months prior. The CPR course you can find it for about $70 which was the cheapest I found and it must be AHA BLS. You must attend the class and you get your card the same day. Hope this helps :-)

passes my cnet lpn entrance exam, whats next??
I'm still waiting to interview with HHC next month for the scholarship. If anyone has interviewed with HHC can you tell me if the interview is difficult? I've been practicing going over what they may ask me.

Nyc doe lpn 2012 application
I have and it really wasn't much of an interview. They just go over your paperwork (which is a lot) to make sure everything is completed accurately. The writing sample was 3 paragraphs detailing why you wanted to be a nurse and why you choose that school for training. I'm waiting to receive my interview date with HHC for the scholarship now. As long as you go to the prep classes you're pretty much guaranteed a seat, so the main issue and headache is the scholarship interview.
