  1. I work for a facility owned by Nexcare Health Systems. Since Southeast MI is huge you can go on to their site and see which is near you, they have 17 facilities. I went in and applied to my facility in person. Out of the 50 or so applications that I completed online, this was the only call back that I got. I'm newly licensed. I passed NCLEX-PN in January and started orientation March 4. I hope this helps.
  2. Thank you, I will look into that one.
  3. Thank you. Yesterday they advised that we can use one, but we have to ask the instructor prior to each lecture to ensure that they are not discussing any sensitive topics for that day.
  4. I am thinking about getting a digital voice recorder for my lectures. Has anyone else decided to do the same? If you have already purchased one and like, can you recommend a good one under $50.
  5. Oh my, I am living in the wrong state.........That is awesome!! I would be doing the happy dance if that was all that I had to pay.
  6. I start Sept. 4, my program is 12 months and we start clinicals the second week of school, twice a week. My first round is from 7am-2:30pm. I was surprised that we went so soon after starting.
  7. Hello there MikaTheNurse, I start Sept. 4 with dturnin. I took my pre-reqs at MCC, except the math and pharm (which has to be taken with them). As dturnin stated that class was very intense. I had little time for much of anything besides studying. I took it this summer, along with three other summer classes (I don't work) and I passed with above the minimum that was needed. It's hard, but able to be done. I like everything, thus far, and I am super excited. Our cohort will be at the school Monday-Wednesday and clinicals either Thu/Fri or Sat/Sun. You can start taking your pre-reqs prior to applying for the program. If you plan to bridge over later, I would suggest taking most of them at the community college level so you get credit for them, if you take it at OU Riverview its not transferable to any other school. I hope this info helps with your decision.
  8. Hello there mattschonste15. Two weeks down already, cool. So have you been doing as most threads about the first couple of weeks state?...reading, reading and more reading. (I start 9-4 and they already have us reading). I'm glad that you decided to join this thread and best wishes in your nursing program.
  9. Hi there SushiJoe, I'm glad that you are fine after your accident. Sometimes our life triumphs as well as tragedies help us to make decisions for our future. I know about the wait list stories or as some schools state "we have no wait list". Ok, so technically they have no wait list, but you have to apply three years in a row to get in because they only take 40 to 50 students per cohort. This is the reason I went for lpn. I wish you much success throughout your nursing career.
  10. $100, wow! Did you get your books from Amazon? We were told the we should purchase two clinical uniforms as well. Fortunately they only want a certain color. I purchased my four sets of lab (clearance) and four sets of clinical scrubs, lab coat, socks and shoes for around $150on allheart.com. Coming out of pocket can get expensive.
  11. Pharmacology, hands down. I did very well in both, but Pharmacology was much harder. It started us on the critical thinking path and my A & P was more memorization.
  12. I have five books for my first semester, which are not covered in my tuition and I was advised to purchase care plan books and a medical dictionary. I purchased those from Amazon for a cheap price. They also advised that we will need our Pharmacology book for Med/Surg. I have no clue about the rest of the year.
  13. Hello ladies and gentlemen, I wanted to make a thread only for our men. We know we women dominate the nursing field and I just want to show appreciation for our men. We kneed them in our field and I want to acknowledge that they are out there and are on allnurses. I have seen a few chime in every know and then on threads, but fellas this thread is for you. Fell free to give your state and anticipated graduation date, or prior graduation date and if you found any difficulty on deciding on going into your program. Remember "this thread is for you!"
  14. That is a great price to to for school. Your tuition, books and uniforms were less than my tuition alone. It's amazing to see all the vast range of tuition rates.
  15. Wow, I can see why everything would be included. Ok, now I don't feel bad for paying for books and scrubs.
