  1. Okay. I'm not exactly sure where and when some of you went through nursing school, but I'm approaching my last semester and it has taken up every breathing moment of my time. I Don't have time to hang out with friends, don't visit my family nearly as often as I did during my pre-nursing years, and every attempt at having a relationship has always went up in flames due to the demands of nursing school. I WISH I had someone like you to research and at least TRY to understand what lies ahead. Everyone isn't always supportive-due to lack of understanding. My best advice is to make her life less stressful as you can but be sure to make time for each other-even if it's just a dinner date on the weekends or the occasionally movie night. Yes, she will bombard you when all things nursing because it's a new world....LITERALLY! I commend you for speaking up and reaching out, and I wish you the guys the best! Be sure to keep us updated! 😊
  2. I'll be done with Nursing School on Dec 16th and NCLEX Jan 2016! I can't wait! I'm so close to my dream I can taste it! #ClassOf215
  3. Well, I personally don't think it's cheating unless you have the test bank book with you on the test. The instructor's manual (test bank) has all of the answers including the CORRECT rationales rather than having to assume or look it up. I personally would rather gain a solid nursing foundation by studying the correct information rather than anything else. Now that I mention it, all of my NCLEX books INCLUDING the nursing textbooks have the CORRECT rationales italicized or ink red. So...what is the issue here?
  4. I am 1 of 6 males out of a total 40. That's 15% **MALE NURSES ROCK**
  5. I believe I'm called to Emergency Medicine (i.e., Critical Care, Trauma, Cardiac Surgery)
  6. I think getting all As is great but I believe learning and understanding the information is more important. I had a 4.0 when I entered into nursing school but dropped to a 3.75. I think this was mostly due to me trying use the same study habits as I did in my Pre-reqs. I'll be totally honest-it doesn't work...at all!
  7. I'll be starting my 2nd semester on August 19. My classes are: Nursing of Adults & Children I (Med-Surg and OB), Nursing Lab Practicum II, Med-Surg clinical rotation (1st half of semester) and OB clinical rotation (2nd half of semester)
  8. The fundamentals of nursing you will learn in the 1st semester are the foundations of the nursing profession and the primary role of the Registered Nurse. You will have to be prepared to adjust your entire life around and commit to nursing.
  9. I would have probably coached him through it, but I must say-I wish I was a fly on the wall! Lol!
  10. Class of 2014! I started my program on August 20. So far, I'm beginning to see what everyone had been saying. There's so much work, some many assignments, and so much information to retain! It's a bit overwhelming but I'm standing my ground. This is what I've worked so hard for. I will continue until the end! Randy B. Shields, SN
  11. I went floating and rafting at Bass' River Resort in Steelville, MO! Had a great time! No phone service! Didn't have to work! Only camp fires, junk food, and plenty of beer! Too bad it had to end. Time to get serious. Tomorrow's the big day!
  12. I've made all As in my Pre-Nursing prerequisites, I'm approaching my 2nd year since becoming a CNA, I've received my acceptance letter, and attended my Nursing orientation. Over the past few weeks, I've received my textbook list and Fall 2012 schedule; in addition to the compulsive need to watch every preparatory nursing video there is! Could there be a way to help ease all of the anxiety and tension?
  13. Shout outs and congrats to you from St. Louis! I start this Fall as well! I'm so excited! *Let the games begin! :)
  14. Wow! I guess it's never too late! Best Wishes to you! :)
