What is the maximum number of patients per nurse?
Central Florida we moved from 5:1 to 6:1 days and nights. Cna's take care of 17 pts but most of the time I do my own v/s, blood glucose test.

HCA New Grad Program (StaRN) at Kendall Regional (Miami, FL)
I liked it. I felt more confident in my nursing skills since it was the HCA protocol. The six weeks of preceptorship built my confidence higher and Comparing what I learned from nursing school to practice huge difference. Even the nurse manager mentioned that she would rather hire someone who was a StaRN than someone who didn't went through the program.

Horrible new boss
I just needed to vent. So the nursing floor I work we have a new nurse manager. A coworker of mine introduced herself to the new manager and the manager did not want to shake her hand and went on saying "I heard this floor went through with some managers I'm just letting you know I am here to stay!!!" Wow what a start. So now she wants us to have 6 pts plus our patient care techs are going to be laid off so we have to do all total care of 6 pts plus any new admissions we have to accept. I can't wait until the law passes here in Florida about nurse pt ratio of 1:4.

HCA New Grad Program (StaRN) at Kendall Regional (Miami, FL)
Tests are easy. I had great instructors. They have a review prior to the exam. Similar to nursing school.

I' m a Failure
Use UWORLD and study. I don't know how you study but the majority of people who post on the NCLEX forum use UWORLD
-
What to study if no Kaplan or Uworld
You can purchase Nclex mastery for $10
-
Has anyone passed Nclex specifically using Uworld?
UWorld is affordable for a three week access to their qbank is $49 but if you email them they can give you a $10 discount they know the struggles of a broke nursing student if you can set aside $5.00 a day ( stop buying gourmet coffee) or even better how were you able to shift financially during nursing school you can do it. If you made it through nursing school with sacrifices you can do it.

Failed twice. Trying Kaplan ?
You're the first I heard failed NCLEX by using UWORLD. How do you learn?(auditory, visual, etc) I used UWORLD and did not rely on the score I got every 75 questions in the practice exam. I read the rationales also for prioritization I used la charity, the 35page NCLEX review definitely helped and I have a 2 year old that constantly needs my attention. If you used UWORLD for 3 weeks it would be enough. The majority of my classmates used UWORLD for a week and passed on their first try. In my opinion you should re-evaluate your learning style and build from there try not to read into the question whatever qbank you use also do your research, plus there's a plethora of friends here in allnurses that is willing to help you. :0) Best of your success

I failed the NCLEX-RN

I failed the NCLEX-RN
Have you tried UWORLD it may be challenging but it's close to the NCLEX. Study the rationales why it's right or wrong and you will be ok

IR Radiation Exposure-Thoughts?
Yes 6 ft is appropriate distance. Plus the actual source (tube) is not pointing at you. They should have given you a temporary film badge and you can find out how much were exposed. Question: was the button pressed the whole 3-5 hours because that's dangerous to the patient. The dose you have that procedure is less than what you deal with the cell phone and standing outside in the sun for 10mins. So you won't know how the damage is done. I know I have been working in radiology for 22 years and I expect to have cataracts by the age of 70 it is expected. Any damage to your future fetus after this exam will not carry on whenever you decide to have kids. Ask the technologists who work there about exposures be educated. It gets me so upset when nurses are saying oh you zap me uh I was not pointing the tube at you plus radiation does not come after you making curves after you hid in a corner. Do your evidence based research about radiation and make your own decisions about continuing with IR nursing

What's your take as a graduate nurse working nights in med surg
So I will be starting my night shift in medsurg next month. I need some friendly advice about everything. Thanks so much [emoji41]

Medlife Institute
I knew someone who went to that school after the person failed a second time. The school took the first semester of nursing and was able to finish earlier than my class group . But it's so expensive they want $1000 upfront then payment plan for a total of $13,000. That's just tuition not including lab, books, nursing lab supplies uniforms etc.

Passed NCLEX with 265 questions
Don't lose hope. Now time to make a study plan of what works for your study type. Go through your grieving process once get that out of the way. Try UWORLD or ncsbn it worked for me just understand the rationales. Hope this works. Again don't lose hope you will pass
