Statistics Class
Hate to discourage you, but I really haven't found a good site for statistics. The best way to master the material is repetition. Here's what you do: When the teacher does a practice problem on the board, write it down! Write every step that they went through, figure out why they did it. Then go over that problem ten times in your head and when it shows up on the test, you will fly through it!

I'm A NERVOUS Wreck!!!
Lots of good advice here. I know the 4.0 means a lot to you, but if you're truly learning the material and still wind up with a B, there is NO shame whatsoever in that. NONE! I was in your shoes for the spring semester- I was dead set on getting an A in A&P. However, I gave it everything I had and got a B. I can live with that, because I know I gave it my best effort. Good luck whatever you do. Try not to get too discouraged- just think, you're part of the 60% that have made it this far. Keep plugging away and studying your tail off!

Started Volunteering in the ER on Monday
I hear ya- I'm already considering going into EMT school for the fall after talking with some of the paramedics there. I agree with you 100% about making contacts within your future career as well.

for those that are done with a&p and chem
Hey, that's a good idea! You would be surprised how much the two courses can be alike. I honestly am concerned for you though as you are working 40 hrs/week and going to school fulltime...that's a huge schedule there. Best of luck to ya!

Anyone gone through A+P 1+2 and not cover a system?
I know- it's actually too good to be true. I know in nursing school I'm really going to hit that system hard!

Started Volunteering in the ER on Monday
It is awesome! It was my first time working in a hospital setting and I was pretty much blown away at first. I will be transporting patients, talking to family, etc. Has anyone else done this? As for me, I'm just happy I got my foot in the door- it's awesome to work in a place that relates to my career for once.

We never did the endocrine system.

Male RN's in demand ?
I don't know if we have an advantage in the hiring, but do males have an advantage when it comes to getting accepted into a nursing school?

Summer A&PII Students: Can I help you?
Thanks- I don't want to sell on eBay or amazon; I figure I'd help out fellow nursing students here first.

Having a strong stomach
This thread reminds me of our blood lab in A&P2...needless to say, I was completely embarrassed that I almost fainted trying to stick myself. It wasn't easy, because I'm not usually soft like that!

Memorizing vs. understanding
100% correct.

Plans if not accepted into nursing school
OK, time for Stupid Question of the day. This is gonna sound really stupid, but what other choices do I have if I don't get accepted into a nursing program for next year? I really don't want to sit around and wait to apply again. don't get me wrong, I want to do nursing. But if it means sitting around for two years waiting to get accepted, I'm not sure if that's for me. I'll be applying this winter (in Dec) to various nursing school, but my GPA is a concern (will be in the 2.9-3.1 range). However, I have B's or better in all my science courses. Also, one more thing you should know: I've always wanted to be either a CRNA or a teacher. would many of my pre-reqs apply if I decided to switch and go into education? I realize this choice is awhile away, but I would appreciate some insight. Thanks.

Having a strong stomach
Hey, I'm the same way. What you said about subconciously feeling the pain in the patient really hit me. That's exactly how I feel- I was watching a gallbladder surgery and when they made 3 incisions on the patient's stomach I got pretty queasy. I'm just going to have to get used to it I guess- the room was 55 degrees and I broke out into a total sweat. My shirt was soaked!!:rotfl:

1 month in and students already quitting
I disagree. There's still a lot of physiology and concept learning in an anatomy class.
-
Memorizing vs. understanding
If I truly understand a concept, multiple choice tests are a breeze. I'm able to connect the dots right on the spot. However, if someone is planning on regurgitating everything they memorized for a test, they better hope the questions don't require some serious thought. Being able to apply knowledge learned is extremely valuable, IMO.

Summer A&PII Students: Can I help you?
Hello everyone. If you're taking A&PII this summer and would be interested in Patrick Leonardi's study guide or the Anatomy Coloring Book, I'm more than willing to sell them to you for a reasonable price- less than amazon or ebay. These accessory items have helped various students: Patrick Leonardi's Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0971999627/qid=1115728717/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-3201046-5034328?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 The Anatomy Coloring Book http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0805350861/qid=1115728884/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/104-3201046-5034328?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 The coloring book has one bone diagram colored, but that's it. Besides that, both these books are new. If you're interested in either of these, let me know (PM) or just post. Thanks.

1 month in and students already quitting
I find it amusing at the staggering amount of students that have dropped so far. In Chem, we started out at 50+, now we're down to 40. In A&P II, we started out with 40, now down to 30. I understand some people may have a situation where they have to drop, but the majority of people that I talk to (that dropped) say it's too hard, too much studying, etc.
