I'm A NERVOUS Wreck!!!
I'm in Anatomy and Physiology I for the summer semester, and I HATE IT!!! I have a 4.0 GPA, and this class is going to ruin that. First off, my teacher is horrible!!! He is so discouraging. On the first day of class he said that he would see most of us back in the fall. His lectures are horrible! Nothing he puts on the test is in the book or what he has lectured on!!! I've studied probably 20-30 hours weekly for the last couple of weeks, and on my first test I made an 82!!! The class average was 72!!! Most people have already dropped. Out of a starting class of about 50 there are about 30 people now. When we took our lab practical, he told us "Don't be surprised if the grade you get back is a 56, because that's what most people make." And he indeed made it incredibly hard!!! We took our second test yesterday and he said, "most people do worst on this test than they did on the first one, so you guys need to think about dropping..." I don't know what to do!!! I'm trying hard to maintain my 4.0 but there is really no way now, unless I make all 100's on everything from here on out, which seems impossible since this man almost prides himself on being a hard teacher!!! I hate to whine, but this is completly discouraging. I've figured it up that I can make a B in this class, but I'll have to work very hard for it. I've never worked hard for a B!!! What do I do??????????? Rachel

What is a Lab Practical?
Hey everybody!!! I'm in Anatomy and Physiology 1, and I'm having my first lab practical Monday. I'm kind of in a bind because out of the three labs we have had, I've had to miss two because my son was sick with bronchitis. What is a lab practical exactly? What does it consist of? How can I study for it!!! How did you guys do on your first lab practical? I'm a nervous wreck!!! :stone :uhoh21: Thanks, Rachel

Anyone else have this problem?
You don't know how much your reply helps me. I'm sure I'll be fine, but every once in a while I need reassurance. And it's silly, I guess, but I always find myself worrying "can I do it?" I have told myself time and time again that most likely it will be something I become used to. I really don't believe any caring individual can be completly numb to a dead body. Afterall, it's such an unusual state for a live person to see another human in. Does that make any sense? I can't wait to be a nurse. I look forward to it, but I do have my concerns, as I assume everyone else does. And I can completly sympathize with the jiggly no no part thing. That gives me a weird feeling too. It's like you are an intruder or something. Well, thanks again for your reply! Rach

Thanks for your reply! I know, it's really a stupid, trivial thing to worry about, but I do! I'm also a little strange, because after I see dead body, I get all grossed out and can't eat for a couple of days, which probably doesn't hurt this big butt. :) Anyway, I got my Anatomy and Physiology book today, and GROSS, there was all kinds of gross dead kitty pictures. Later, we had beef tips and rice for dinner, and I found it hard to eat. All I can say is, either I'll get over it, or I'll be the skinniest nurse ever! Rachel

Anyone else have this problem?
Hi everybody! I am so excited about becoming a nurse. I've really enjoyed school so far, and I'm almost 100% sure that I want to be a nurse. To me, being a nurse has so many advantages; the respect that comes with the career, the knowledge that you acquire, being in the medical field, helping people, etc.... The only thing that scares me about being a nurse is: seeing sick/dead babies, seeing dead people period :uhoh21: (I'm very afraid of dead bodies, why? I don't know), and I'm a little squimish when it comes to seeing horrific blood and guts. Do these things scare anybody else out there, or am I unusual? I hope that I can get use to these things once I become a nurse. Rachel

A&P I: The Summer '05 Anatomy and Physiology Club
Tiffany, There's only one nursing program at my school, so that elimnated the possibility for applying to any other program. What all are you taking during the summer semester? I just applied for the work study program at my school. Keep in touch, and good luck! Rachel

A&P I: The Summer '05 Anatomy and Physiology Club
I am also crazy as a loon and taking A&P1 this summer. Mine also starts June 6, and I am soooo nervous. This will be my first Biology. All I've had thus far is my first remedial math (have to take two before I can start on College Alegebra), English 101, Philosophy, and a required computer class. So far my GPA stands at a 4.0, which was kinda hard considering I have two small boys(5 and 1). I do have to give credit to my very supportive husband, who lets me stay at home and study when I don't have class. I've got A&P 1 and my second and last remedial math in the summer. Then in the fall, I'm registered for Political Science, College Algebra, A&P 2 and Microbiology!!!! AHHH!!!! Trying to get these core classes out of the way by April 2006 so that I can apply for the nursing program. As I said in my introduction post, I am working on my associates right now, but I am a transfer student. Once I've graduated from the nursing program, I will go back to work, and at night I'll take my classes so that I can get my BSN. :rotfl: I'm sooooooooo crazy. After that, I plan on getting my master's. What am I thinking? I think I may want to go into Pediatrics...anyone have any comments about that? Looking forward to getting to know all you guys, Rachel
