  1. Sorry for late comment but just wanted to point out CRNA can and I know a few .Who own their practice and have the hospital contract then they can make more.
  2. There is a huge gluttony in the market right now due to more CRNA schools. I have recently been asked to take a 25% cut in my salary because the market is driving down salaries and they will have no problem getting someone to replace me. However the MDA at my facility in the mean time gets to keep his outrageous salary.
  3. I understand that if you want ,I can pm you on it more it was a private meeting with the ceo of the hospital .
  4. Was told pay scale depended on years in school from admin so just going on that word.
  5. Depends on the employer, some hospitals look at the dnp different .If it's a team job so called no different in pay .But some do pay alittle more.
  6. As crna wages are pushed down due to over supply rn wages are getting closer to crna wages maybe enrollment will drop.
  7. All I'm trying to say is there are too many schools and you can see the affect, jobs on one main site, gasworks down 4000 jobs since about 2 years ago.
  8. Knew five years ago, With AANA this was coming guess if wages get to four year b s degrees their will be less students !
  9. What do you know about me ? I have a Dr degree ty! Their is no short cuts to me decade of my life in school that I have made.Who was crying hmm.
  10. AS I have stated earlier ,I personally was test with a student MDA and we both missed same questions . When it comes to providing anesthesia both know about the same from my point of view . But it sure is a political storm out there, bad apples to both sides .Health care teams to me are a waste of money and all it does is save MDA's bottom lines.
  11. It's just our hospital's by laws it says surgeon is to make sure we our competent to do our work that goes for MDA and CRNA, I agree we have the patient life in our hands. If I worded it to say something different ,sorry for the confusion.
  12. I'm a CRNA and love my job! Most days lol. The surgeon in OR looks over both MDA and CRNA during surgery but doesn't tell us what to do. As far as schooling I was tested with an MDA resident during my schooling and the director of the MDA was surprised how much we knew. We scored the same. So titles sometimes dont hold much water. Sorry I'm tired if any typo's please forgive me, oh p.s I love my independence
  13. Nope were tired of you pushing false hoods aa's no threat. We need to tell public the truth behind the doors of hospitals, specialty hmm, nurses did it before and we can do it again we are trying to perserve our rights that are always under attack from Anesthesiologists. If the truth gets out to the people ,thats what your afraid of the most.
  14. Because to many schools we talked about this years ago knew this would happen not good!
  15. Maybe ,I didn't make it clear enough you look up laws were states I work the surgeon has to make sure the provider, MDA or Crna is capable to do their work plain and simple thats all. Didn't mean supervision as in tell ya what to do, so plain english were on the same playing field .
  16. You are right a surgeon does have to make sure a Crna is capable to perform their work. But so do they supervise anesthesiologist too.
  17. Were are these rules mda's are required to over see crna? It's the darn dr who are pushing these these made up political rules but by law we dont need them and they dont like it period.
  18. I'll say it yes to many schools and students just look at job websites jobs are down 75% from couple years ago. Salary's are down all around me and job sites, hospitals know this too . I know some Rn's making in low 100k true travel nurse still good money for 4 years school verses 6 or 7 and soon dnpa's.I'm a crna and know with looking around if i move I'll take a pay cut. And as earlier stated don't do short cuts do all you can to look better .
  19. Interesting because Ive worked with quite a few MD"s not certified and or haven't passed the exam but they can still practice and lead CRNA"s at alot of hospital's. They do go get CME,I'm told they can practice because of their 4 year MD degree. I have never heard of CRNA's not passing the exam and practicing years after they graduate . Don't look like anybody is making them take it . To me its called politics, maybe things move slower on certain things and other things go faster .
  20. Kaiser is not CRNA friendly in my opinion thats why so many openings.
  21. Sorry I'm not good at cpu's and forums sorry for double post . I'm a CRNA.
  22. Places you live will effect how much is spent and schools range from $20,000 to over $50,000 travel to clinical, books, if you have a family it all adds up. With me my nurse degree plus bsn,and master it for me added up to close to some of these numbers. I had to find a job to support my repayments and living. The end justified the means, love helping people and love practicing on my own !:wink2:
  23. Different schools charge from around $20,000 to over $50,000 plus books, travel to and from clinicals, living, ext . With me it was that plus my rn, bsn, I'll together reached very close to some of the high numbers. Payments well I had to find a job to support repayment and living . To me the end justified the means , love helping people. Also love being on my own in all of my pratice.:wink2:
  24. I agree with the others that you should shadow a CRNA and see if you think it is something that you would like. I know a couple of people that thought they wanted to be a CRNA and after shadowing decided that it wasn't what they wanted. Then if you think you like it you should go for it. It is a lot of hard work but if you give it your all you can do it and it is definitely worth it. Besides the time and energy of school and the money you have to borrow there aren't really any drawbacks. The only thing I can think of is the stress and responsibility that the job carries with it. Otherwise it is a very fun career.
  25. As far as control of your time it simply depends on where you practice. I am a CRNA and I practice with a group where we work normal days (some go longer) and then we take call at night and on weekends. I work with CRNA's and MD's and we all share the call equally. CRNA's take as much call on their own as the MD's do. If you want to talk about differences it is in the money. They make about twice as much and they get paid during their residency and CRNA's don't. You should do what you think you will be the happiest doing.
