  1. Hi guys, I been on this nursing forum for a little over two years now and I am just going back to school now to finish up my high school education. I really like the topic of anesthesia and the idea of doing it, I have also seen it being done a few times and love it, the only negative about it is that it's the only study of medicine and nursing I love, is it stupid to try to become that if it's the only thing I want to be? if I wanted to go to med school only to become that is that stupid or if I wanted to go all the way through nursing school and practice as a nurse for 2 years just to become that is that not smart? I really need to know if I am making a mistake or if it is a reasonable idea.
  2. I wish this had happend for me as it played out for your husband, I waited for the er as a last resort though, I called every podiatrist in town, I called every urgent care and clinic, and all of the family doctors that I could find, sadly it just didn't work out well for me, I was also begining to get very scared because as I would seek peoples opinions they would say it looked so bad thatI really needed to get it taken care of and it was begining to puse as well and I heard that is a very bad sign which is why I was begining to fear the idea of geting gangreen, I believe it was the right call though, the doctor removed my toe nail and gave me a lot of meds for the infections and a lot of pain meds, it did heal quite well. I think if I had to do it over again, I would given the same circumstances :)
  3. I went into the ER for a ingrown toenail, it was 3 weeks old, it was infected, I couldn't walk on it, and I didn't have health insurance nor $400 that the free clinic wanted in order to take care of it and no one would bill, and all the other specialist needed money and even if I could come up with the money they wouldn't be able to see me for 5 more days from the day that I needed it done and couldn't wait anymore. This was about 2 weeks ago haha, I am not a nurse but I would like to be one, I didn't think it was a stupid reason to go to the ER though, in fact, a lot of people recomended it. oh and I will have health insurance in a couple of days, yay! :)
  4. oh my god, thank you guys so much for posting this, this is exactly what I been looking for, for so very long. I want to do this as well, I would like to become a lpn but I also have creative dreams of being a film producer and things like that. I really hope it is possible.
  5. Before enter a adn program, you need to do your pre reqs right? at a community college, is it the same with bsn at a university? or do they include the pre reqs into one of the 4 years?
  6. Hi guys, thank you all who have posted, I just wanted to update everyone. after changing shoes, the problem went away. I am happy to report that my feet feel great after work.
  7. Hi guys, I am not a nurse but I do want to be one, one day. I work in a well known retail store and I am on my feet for 4 - 8 hours a day, after the long shift I drive home and when I get out of the car I walk funny to the door because I am not able to walk right, then usually in the night, after I get out of my bed about a hour or so after work my ankles hurt too like they are going to break along with my feet. I am not used to being on my feet much, I been working at this job for about 6 weeks, is this normal? will it go away? is there something I can do to help this go away? I ask this because you are all nurses and are on your feet a lot too. is it my shoes? any response would be appreciated. thanks everyone :)
  8. what was the statistic and who published that? also, is there any links to this article or publication? and finaly, was there any other factors in this study? such as how many days of this shift or the movement or lack of movement you may be doing on this shift? is it stress related or just in general work of a 11 - 12 hour shift?
  9. Hello readers, I really hope to get some opinions and maybe some advice, After reading a lot about anesthesia providers both CRNA, and MDA I have developed a really great interest in the field, I am young at 19 years of age, and am curious, if I started at a lvn program and eventually did a lvn - bsn bridge, would this negativly affect me when all is said and done while I am trying to apply for a CRNA program?
  10. oh my, I would hope not, it was taken away for a reason.
  11. I wish you the best of luck.
  12. wow, sounds like that place is a accident waiting to happen.
  13. I do think you should ask your employer first, I also think you should keep in mind what other future employers would think if you choose to leave the current job you have at the moment, Just my opinion, best of luck with what ever you decide to do. :)
  14. I guess I am kind of confused, I can see why you would worry what someone else is doing if it is affecting a third party, such as "oh yes I am a nurse, let me start your iv and get your meds" when the person saying this is in fact a (CNA), but a random person claiming to be a doctor (MD) while passing and not giving medical advice doesn't seem to be that big of an issue, it just seems to be a sensitivity issue of prestige of both parties and some insecurity issues to the person whom is misrepresenting themselves. just my .
