  1. Yes, the program is super difficult. Our class started with 68 people and I think we ended up graduating 54 (our class was really 50 or 51, but we had 2 or 3 people jump into our class from the class before). Obviously, it's doable if you put in the time and effort.
  2. Hey guys, I'm a recent Roseman grad, so if you guys have any questions, feel free to PM me (or if you're not able to, let me know and I'll reach out to you). :)
  3. Vegas Volt, I just sent you a PM. Let me know if you have any other questions =)
  4. Every block you are allowed one remediation (i.e. re-take). Some blocks (Med Surg I and Med Surg II) allow you to do two re-takes, which are called "Super Finals". Basically, instead of re-taking the test that you didn't pass, you are retested on all the material of that particular block. There are a few ppl in my class who have never remediated; on the flip side, there were a few who remediated almost every single block. In the end, we still graduate with the same degree. =)
  5. I applied to Peds, Med/Surg/, and Tele/Observation. Got my BA at UCLA years ago, and recently completed my BSN. My status is still under "Online Assessment Completed". Hopefully they'll start getting back to all of us soon. Good luck everyone!! :)
  6. I personally did the 18-month BSN program that was NOT online. We were in class Monday-Friday from 8-3pm, unless it was during our clinical blocks. I have nothing but good things to say about the program. Graduated in March, passed my NCLEX, and from what I have heard so far, ALL of my classmates that have taken NCLEX have passed on their first try. We were all more than prepared because this program was (and will be for you) the hardest thing you will EVER go through. Getting 90% on every assignment, quiz, presentation, exam is not for the faint of heart. That being said, if you're willing to put in the time, the whole experience is very rewarding. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions, I'll be glad to help you. :)
  7. Got my official award letter yesterday, I can log on to the site as a participant! Good luck to all, I talked to another friend who graduated from nursing school last year, and her classmate that received the scholarship found out in the middle of September. There is still hope out there!! =)
  8. What you carry also depends on what your school schedule is like. I'm in an accelerated nursing program where we're in class Monday-Friday from 8-3pm, and it's block scheduling. For Med-Surg we basically had about 2 big textbooks we refer to and the school gives us a laptop that all of us bring everyday. Hence, I have to carry everything (not to mention lunch/snacks, water bottle, other textbooks/references, etc) so the rolling backpack works. Also, my school is small (no hallways filled with people, my nursing class is approximately 54 people) so not really a tripping hazard. I guess it depends on what your schedule situation is. If you pull the rolling backpack, more power to you!!
  9. bought this exact one for school when I started last year: Targus 16-inch Rolling Laptop Case, 16-inch Laptop Case, Laptop Carrying Case best thing I ever bought. Once my classmates saw my rolling case, at least 5 of them went out and bought the same one.
  10. Good to know! I talked to my financial aid office today too, and she said it all depends on when the money will be awarded. Someone from my school won the award last year, and because we have to pay our fees the first week of September, he had to take out a loan because their payments didn't go through until November. I don't mind taking out a loan, especially if I know the scholarship would cover for everything. =) But if we get our payment earlier, we won't have to worry about the loan! If I hear anything more I'll post on here to keep everyone updated!
  11. I'm confused too because I have to have tuition fees paid by the beginning of September, and I don't think we get our money until November. Does that mean we have to take out a loan, and then the scholarship pays our tuition directly to the school and we give the money back? Wondering if anyone can clear this up. =)
  12. I also received an email today that I received the scholarship. So happy and honored!!! 4.0 GPA 0 EFC Accelerated BSN Nevada Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting for an email!
  13. Thanks! Don't be discouraged, it's possible to even get an acceptance letter in late July...it happens. =) Keep us updated if you do get in!
  14. blairnpb, The 18 month program starts on August 6th for the August cohort. I think our orientation is Aug 2-3rd.
  15. Hey there! There's another thread going on for some of us that are going for Fall 2012: https://allnurses.com/nv-nursing-programs/roseman-bsn-anybody-699008.html I interviewed at the end of March and found out in April, so it was about two weeks later. However, they said that some students don't here until the summer depending on when you interviewed and if you still have some prereqs to take. When was your interview? Did you still have some classes left to take?
  16. Hi there! When I got my admissions packet there was a piece of paper you can fill out and be added to the roommate database/roommate finder. It won't be available until the end of June I believe. It's not like a website that you can just visit, to protect student's privacy. I'm sure if you contact the school, they can give you more information. :)
  17. I plan on returning to California, but not immediately after school. It all depends where I can find a job first. The ABSN is "learn on your own" program. I am in the 18 month traditional program, so it's in class with faculty M-F. I have heard that the ABSN can be difficult if you're not self-motivated, but it's doable. As long as you set up a schedule on your own and stick with it, you should be fine.
  18. I'll be starting my 18-month BSN program this August, and I'm turning 30 in December. I thought I might be one of the older students in my class, but when I went to my interview there were quite a few people in their 30s and 40s. I'm not too worried about making friends or connecting with classmates, because all of my classmates at the JC where I did pre-reqs were between 19-23. Maybe I don't feel too concerned because I look young. =P
  19. Hi there, congrats and welcome!! :) Where are you from? When I went to my interview it seemed like a lot of people were from out of state. I'm from Southern CA, so the move won't be too bad. I got my admissions packet and there's a paper where you can sign up for a roommate database with other Roseman students. Hopefully that will help you find a place close to school.
  20. I actually dropped the CalCampus class because I got accepted into a different school's program and didn't want to take it anymore, lol. But for the few weeks I was taking the class it seemed doable. You turned in one written assignment per week, as well as a quiz. All notes and study materials were online through the website, no outside textbook required.
  21. I know, I hope I get a good group too! I just need to finish up my Statistics class this semester, and I'm done. I hope to take Nevada Constitution in the summer just to get it out of the way. You should apply to the community colleges in Nevada, they're starting summer enrollment already (College of Southern Nevada, Great Basin College, etc). I think we can start signing up for summer classes around April 30th. It's cool that you can take it online, but if you're going to be there in the summer, they have traditional classes for that too. It's great you have housing worked out already. I'm hoping to find a place not too far from school. Great thing is rent in Henderson is wayyyy cheaper than where I'm living now. :)
  22. Awesome, nice to meet a future classmate! Did you do the interview back in March? Are you local or coming from out of state? I'm coming from Southern California, so I'm probably going to start looking for housing in June/July.
  23. I haven't seen a thread made yet, so I'm just going to start one myself. :) Anyone starting the program in August? Just got my acceptance letter last week, and I heard the school is doing one or two more rounds of interviews. Getting anxious to start this Fall!!
  24. Just got my acceptance letter via email today!!!! I was so excited I think I almost choked out my boyfriend from hugging him so tight! I found the boards to very helpful in my endeavors, from how to study for the TEAS to preparing for the interview. I'm very excited to start in August! Thanks everybody, and good luck to those still waiting to hear back from schools!
  25. I'm a Pharm Tech myself, and it helps with NOTHING when it comes to nursing. If I would have known earlier in my life that I wanted to pursue nursing, I would have done CNA or Phlebotomy. Pharm Tech doesn't count for patient care, and I think being a CNA gives you better experience (I've read that some schools even require their applicants to be CNAs before applying). Also, the pharmacy industry is really bad right now, with the economy and budget cuts and all. CNA seems like the shortest and most beneficial route to take.
