I was wondering what the avg salary is for FNPs in retail clinics such as minute clinic and take care health clinics. And what about per diem shifts? I'm seriously considering working in such a setting a few years after getting some experience.

I'd finish up your bachelors while completing prereqs and gaining volunteer experience then apply to ELMSN programs to become a NP. It's the fastest route I think if being a NP is your end goal.

The FNP I shadowed in socal said she refuses to precept students from schools with no contracted affiliation with her practice (i.e. CSULB and CSULA) and urged me to go to a school that found preceptors for you to avoid unnecessary frustration.

I don't think where you went to nursing school really matters as much as the connections you make in clinicals.

I'd also recommend going for the elmsn FNP programs. They don't require 2000+ hours of paid HCE and have less applicants than PA schools.

I had similar stats as you and I got into a few elmsn programs last year but I think it all comes down to the interview in the end. Good luck.

I went to another FNP program actually...I didn't like the fact that the program is 4 years long and the majority of it is online in addition to having to find your own preceptors. I only applied to get interview experience.
