  1. Hi guys! I don’t have those sheets anymore. my biggest advice would be to go to that unit and shadow somebody for an hour or two and make up your own sheet with all the body systems. or ask one of the nurses on the unit and they may have their own sheet that you can photocopy for your students. I have been at Clinical Instructor for almost 10 years and I learned a lot since that post.
  2. I need info from all the PACU nurses! w hen patients are in Phase II of recovery, how frequent are you taking vitals signs? where did your policy of vitals derive from? Do you employ Critical care techs or nursing assistants? what is your charting system? Thanks!!
  3. Carrollrn posted a topic in PACU
Hi everyone: question. When admitting a patient into the PACU, besides documenting LOC, vitals etc, do you document on PERRLA or just document PERRLA on neuro cases?
  4. HI!! I have a few questions re: EPIC with CPM- Can we discuss offline??
  5. Good point- if u find out this answer tag me!!
  6. Delmar? I will check it out! Thanks for the outline!
  7. Thank u! Will print and laminate!
  8. Awwww thank u!! Any more issues ur my GUY!!
  9. What I meant was when I get a pt with a neo drip (rare) I don't know if the Mcg per minute is too low or too high-this goes for all drips. Is this info just memorization? If so- Is there a quick way to remember this? Thanks for the Mcg per Min calculation tip!
  10. Lol I'm in Carroll gardens Yea guess ur right! I Was asked to work there but didn't wanna do the FT shift
  11. Wow- thanks for the info- dang. Keep me posted!!!
  12. Is there a quick way to knowif the dose I administer is therapeutic? Or must I multiply the Mcg X KG to find out how much they get per minute. Im sorry I am not familiar with cardiac meds, but would like to be
  13. they (the state) has done this many times. They are not going to allow the hospital to close. There is no hospital beside BKLYN and Methodist nearby- def not enuff space to serve the population.
  14. Thank u for your response- do u mean the multiple choice questions from the case studies? They are to complete them before coming to class. Do you think I should go over each one? Or just lecture from slides I would make.
  15. Unfortunately no. I asked another prof and I was to make my own! Kinda last minute and the topics are VAST. There is no case studies book
  16. I am having the same issue- I guess the faculty will provide u with the syllabus and instructor manual with pre assigned content and questions? when u have the answer let me know!!
  17. still a weird story- you needed to clarify an order- you did the right thing- dr said d/c home- but actually patient needed to leave next day- you clarified that... you work at topsy turvy general?
  18. Yes, so the recruiter never called me back after I mentioned that information. She said she was going to. I totally screwed myself. Should I call her back?
  19. FML!!!! I cant believe I told recruiter my days needed off!!! I bet I wont get a call back. I just screwed myself!!!
  20. @Vishwamitr These nurses are 'sustaining' their job- 20 years in... all came in from other hospitals together.I agree doesnt always happen that way, In your facility its different.. I just happen to see it in mine...
  21. I am so sorry you are going thru this- I am not BULLYING YOU. But I want you to know something. I been there and Done that. U need to wake up and FIX whats happening. Watch ur back, Ur License and UR PATIENTS. As with all drama in hospitals, if you change your behavior, attitude and be confident but careful You will be ok. NURSES are biggest gossipers. Dont give them a reason to!! Seek counseling from a PROFESSIONAL- not other nurses at your work. and keep us posted.
  22. I agree- I feel its who u know.. not what your credentials are
  23. Thank you for your quick reply! I got a call back the other day- but she wasnt happy about my "required days off". should I leave my clinical instructor job? I feel really bad and its unprofessional.. or wait it out till I find a part time or Per diem gig....
  24. Hello nurses, NEED ADVICE!! I am per diem- which makes me VULNERABLE to cancellations. I have NOT worked for 3 weeks, due to low census. I have no paycheck- no way to pay bills. I have applied to 9 hospitals and 2 agencies. Was that an overkill? What if no one emails me back? What if 3 call back at the same time? Which do I choose? How much time should I ALSO,I need at least 2 days blocked since I... 1. took an instructing job at a school once a week- that starts in 3 weeks. 2. I am in school completing my degree The 2 day block scares recruiters away.. (I didnt tell them that yet). However, I can do weekends AND holidays. I feel like I should resign from teaching job but don't want to burn bridges because that is the place I want to eventually go back to. What should I do and how to go about it?
  25. still not fair- I was a new RN in which I had a child in school and I wanted some school holidays off with him. Senior nurses with NO kids got those days off repeatedly for 4 years until they left the facility. It should be alternated
