During my prereqs, I was able to take A&P 2 and Micro along with 2 other classes. I made a B+ in A&P 2 and a B in Micro. These were the only two B's I received during my prereqs. I was also working about 30 hours a week with no kids. It's definitely possible to do and if your only taking these two classes you should be able to make A's in both! Good Luck!

After your prereqs are completed, mine is 6 semesters. So it takes three years after being accepted into the program. This is for a BSN.

I was able to sit for mine and I'm in Ohio. I had to have the nursing department fill out a paper stating that I had completed so many hours of clinical/class time. After turning that in, I was able to sit for my state boards.

Just curious but what hospital are you employed at? I'm also a nursing student in ohio and I'm wondering why cincinnati children's or Miami valley wasn't recommended since its a level 1?

Hey Everyone! I'm in my first semester of nursing school and just had my first exam in fundamentals today.. AHHH!! I felt like I studied enough and I knew the material but every time I got to a question and felt like I knew it, I would see another answer that totally made sense too. This got me so hung up! I don't think I did well now just because I second guessed myself soooo much. Will a nclex book help with this? I do all of the practice questions at the end of the chapter but I feel like I need something to supplement it. Is it too early for these types of book? If not, which ones do you recommend?

Hey everyone! I'm starting nursing school this fall! Yay! Ok, so I'd really like to get into a hospital as a pca. I have a friend who works at the local one and she said even though I'm beginning nursing school this fall, it would still be beneficial to get my cna certification due to how hr looks at the applications. She gave my name to the floor manager but HR looks at applications that have a CNA license number.. I thought about just waiting till I get through my fundamentals and taking the test but my classes are set up weird. I'm taking foundations of professional nursing and health and assessments nursing classes. So I won't any clinicals done the first semester. Do you think it'll be too much on my plate to take these two courses along with anthropology and cna class? The class is from 10/1-10/18 monday,tuesday,wednesday,thursday at 4-9:30 pm. Is this too much with just starting nursing school?

I looked and my schedule was posted on wednesday! I'm in a bsn program so I'm taking Nursing fundamentals on wednesday, Nursing health and assessment on tuesday, Epidemiology on wednesday, and anthropology on monday and wednesday. I have a total of 13 credit hours. I'm pretty excited though, the anthro and epidemiology are the last two classes I have to take to complete the bsn requirements except for nursing classes of course :)

Thanks for the comments :) I am so burned out right now but I know I just have to keep going and finish. The nclex pass rates are both very high. Both schools are very reputable in my community. I'm in a hospital city.. There are at least 6 major hospitals within 45 minutes so both schools use the same ones as clinical sites. I think I'm just going to relax and not stress and stay where I am. I guess this is God's way of telling me to stay put lol!

Ok everyone I'm desperate for some advice! I'm currently a student at my local university. I've been working on pre-reqs consistently for 3 years.. AHH! This is do to me starting out fresh from high school and not knowing what I wanted to major in. So I figured it out and I want to be a nurse! Whoot! Well I finally managed to complete all of my pre-regs and I'm 22 ( I know I know I'm still so young but the fact I should be graduating this coming year just grates my nerves) Anyways... I was admitted into my university's program this fall! YAY! But.. Even though I have everything but nursing classes done I STILL have 3 years left due to how they space their courses ahhh.. I'm just so ready to be done at this point. I have also applied to a BSN program that is a hospital based one (Both are BSN) and it will only take me two years.. but... They just called and informed me that my acceptance is based on completing four MORE classes this summer.. OMG! I was looking forward to having my summer off and paying off my car and whatnot. It just really gets me because I have taken similar classes but they weren't the "right" ones. I want to die lol So would you stress yourself out and take 4 classes this summer to end 10 months prior to a university that you're already extremely comfortable with? IDK! I guess I should mention the hospital based school is about 10k more than the university in total and about 2x the drive amount.. lol I know I know why am I even debating it. But I just want to be done and be able to finally get a house with my boyfriend and not be 25 living at home.. Thanks for letting me rant! Sorry for the long winded post.. I know I should just attend the university and not stress myself out but what would you do in my situation?

I just applied for the BSN of 2012. Just curious if anyone knows, but do they have good job placements after school? Does Kettering Hospital hire alot of their graduating nurses? I've been accepted into Miami's BSN program for this fall also. I'm trying to decide which school to attend since Miami will take me 3 years to complete and Kettering will only take two, but Kettering is also more expensive. Is it worth the price? I haven't met any one who attends kettering so does everyone love it there?

hey everyone, i'm in a bit of a pickle and i need your opinions! i have been accepted to a bsn program that starts this fall. it's about 15 minutes from my house. i did all of my prereqs there and am extremely happy with the school and my experience thus far. the only downside is it's still going to take me 3 years to finish! i've already completed my prereqs but how their classes go it's pretty much three years and there's nothing you can do about it. my pickle is there is a private school about 40 minutes away from me. it's also a bsn program and is about 5k-7k more expensive. the upside is i'd be done with my bsn in 2 years rather than 3. this is also a hospital affiliated school so the chance's of getting hired right after graduation is pretty significant i've heard. i guess i'm just going to apply to the private school and see if i get accepted and go from there. i'm just so ready to be done at this point and even if it's more expensive and a much longer drive, 2 years sounds soooo much better to me than 3. what would you do, if you were in my shoes? i know i'm very lucky to have already been accepted into one program.

I start this fall also. It's a bsn program so I'm taking Nursing Fundamentals and Skills, along with Anthropology and Epidemiology. After this fall, I'm finished with everything except my nursing courses. Whoot! I get my information packet next week sometime since I have to work and can't attend the orientation . I'm also doing a cna course over the summer so hopefully God will send some blessings my way and I'll get hired into a hospital! lol Now, I just need to pick out my stethoscope. Sooo many choices! Does anyone have a good recommendation for a new nursing student? Price doesn't really matter at this point.

After two years of prereqs, I can finally say I'm officially a nursing student! I'm so ready to begin a new journey and work towards graduating school. I finally feel like I'm accomplishing something and not just taking random classes. I'm so so so excited. I'm going to relax this summer, go camping with my boyfriend, and enjoy my down time for now. Perseverance really does pay off! Good luck to everyone else applying!!

Will they give you tuition reimbursement for the BSN program? If so, I would definitely go that route just to get it all done!

How is the job market in your area? I know in my area most hospitals are magnet status and require their nurses to have a BSN, especially new grads. This would weigh pretty heavily in my decision. I was accepted to an ADN program to start this winter, but I chose to apply to a BSN program in which I *shouldn't* have a problem being accepted in to. This was because the costs were going to end up about the same, because after getting my ADN I still had to return for my BSN so I decided to skip the middle process. Also, how is your financial situation? Are you able to take an extra year and retake those classes before even being accepted in the nursing program? It sounds like it would probably take you the same amount of time to retake those classes and get accepted into the ADN program so you would graduate in the same amount of time it would take to earn your BSN. For me personally, I would go the BSN route and pay the extra money. I would also look for every single scholarship or grant to help bring down the cost of my tuition. I just know the job market in my area is extremely tough so I want to give myself the best chance I can...

I just applied for my B.S.N program for fall of 2012. My program only accepts once a year The deadline doesn't end until February so I won't hear whether I'm in or not till at least mid March. The wait is going to be the death of me! Lol

Hey Everyone!! I'm currently a pre-nursing student.. Hopefully a nursing student in fall of 2012 (*crosses fingers*). After this academic school year I will have every single class done for my BSN except for my actual nursing classes. I'm done with all the extra little electives and I still have 3 years to go once I'm admitted into my program. My question is, Is it possible to minor in Spanish or like ASL (American Sign Language) while in NS? I know NS is very challenging and time consuming in itself, but I need to be a full time student. Since I was delayed applying to my program I will be under 12 credit hours a semester. I'm on financial aid and in order for my loans to kick in I have to be at the 12 credit hour mark. I mean I think it would be possible since I don't have any other classes to take besides nursing ones, so I thought it would be beneficial in those 3 years to minor in Spanish so I'm more marketable once I graduate. Any thoughts,comments, or suggestions are much appreciated! :)

Hi all! I'm currently in a predicament of sticking with my current school to earn a bsn in 4 years or attend an ADN program i was accepted in and graduate with my ADN in 3 years and then just completing my bsn soon after becoming an RN. I'm worried about not being able to find a job as a new grad with only an ADN degree. However, my ADN program I was accepted into is part of a major hospital in my area that doesn't require a bsn for employment but does require you obtain your bsn within 5 years of hire. What happens if I don't find a job within my first year of being an RN? When I complete my bsn, will I be considered a new grad once again and more marketable? I don't want to have the lack of experience and not be considered a new grad, and be up the creek without a paddle so to speak. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
