Stay or Go? BSN program
Hi everyone, I am currently in my junior year of a BSN program (this past fall was my first semester of actual nursing courses). Our class is the first class to be in this program (the school previously had an ADN program they are now phasing out). My dilemma is this- the school is incredibly disorganized, and has yet to have a visit from the NLN to confirm accreditation for their new BSN program. Program administrators tell us that the school already has NLN accreditation for their ADN program, so obtaining approval for the BSN program shouldn't take long at all. The clinicals are a disaster because they are constantly changing the requirements for us so that we are up to "BSN" standards like other schools. They are still trying to determine which skills we will be learning each semester (the only skill we were checked off on last semester was vitals). My alternative to staying at this school is to enroll in a local ADN program, that is cheaper but would add an extra 12-16 months to my graduation time. Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading and happy holidays! Emmy4

Kettering College BSN (Dayton)
Hi everyone, Kettering College of Medical Arts near Dayton just started a new BSN program and they are phasing out their ADN program. Does anyone have any experience with this college? I've looked around and found a couple of threads where KCMA is mentioned, but they are a couple of years old. If any current students or recent grads are reading this...any advice and info you could provide me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

AHA BLS vs. Red Cross CPR
Hello all, I am a student hoping to enter a BSN program early next year. I currently work as a unit secretary, and hope to transfer to a nurse aide position soon since I just finished STNA training. My question is this- I can take a free American Red Cross CPR class, or pay to take American Heart's BLS class. Which one should I take? The nursing school I hope to go to accepts both- but is there one that is better than the other? Thanks, and have a good day!

STNA Clinicals vs. BSN Clinicals
Hi everyone, I recently finished up my nurse aide classes and am waiting to take the state exam. To be honest, I had a horrible experience. The teacher was a very, very bitter RN who clearly had a gripe against the profession as a whole. To make matters worse, the two-day clinical experience at a local nursing home was-in one word- a disaster. I currently work in a hospital and am quite familiar with the idea that sometimes seasoned nurses don't take kindly to newbies, but nothing prepared me for clinicals. Besides the fact that the LPNs/STNAs on the floor were very rude to the students- The absolute disrespect for the elderly was shocking, and I was stunned at how many employees were openly unprofessional (One of the Memory unit residents was lost and somehow ended up in the employee lounge- there were 10+ employees in the lounge at the time. Not one of them tried to help her find her way back, but they had no problem making fun of her). I am one prerequisite away from applying to a BSN program- and this experience has made me hesitate slightly. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and have a fabulous week everyone!

Wright State BSN
Hi everyone, I am a pre-nursing student currently working on fulfilling pre-reqs to get into Wright State University (Dayton,OH). I was just wondering if anybody had any experience/thoughts on Track I (Fall Entry) vs. Track II (Spring Entry). The fall entry goes through the summer, and thus finishes early than the spring track, which allows for two summer breaks. I would like to finish as soon as possible, but I also know that nursing school is demanding and a break might be very rejuvenating :) Any thoughts?
