"I am a nurse!"
I had a very complex case in a pediatric CVICU. Grandmother let everyone know she was a nurse and was very intrusive (videotaping, giving advice, demanding odd things, attempting to sneak visitors in after hours, etc). Grandfather stated he was a taxi driver... because he went to nursing school, graduated and decided it was not for him. He did pull out a copy of his nursing license from his waller but was otherwise very polite and compliant.

What is the grossest thing that's happened to you???
Gagging just reading about this... the guy drinking the sputum. Ick.

What is the grossest thing that's happened to you???
I watched in horror as my gastroschisis NICU patient projectile vomited into her dads mouth! He then proceeded to dry heave in the sink... poor guy couldn't throw it back up.

Anyone work in the Mobile Pool for Baycare? or Agency travel here
I have only ever worked for Baycare mobile Pool and enjoyed working in their 3 NICUs. Don't know of anywhere else that has a similar setup.

Moving to Guam
VeroRN is a company that staffs for travel assignments in Guam. My recruiter is ****** ****** I am looking to travel there later this year. A friend has been there for years now in the NICU. She loves it. Housing is provided. She does recommend renting a car which can be done for $400ish. It can take 4-6 weeks to for your RN license to be processed.

Nurse in the Navy
My husband received his BSN and then served in the Navy for a decade. He recommends getting a degree first. It affords you more opportunities. You will be able to enter as an officer which is also a step up. ROTC might be another alternative. They do have a Navy Nurse Corps option. There is also a NROTC Scholarship Program that awards select applicants scholarships and they receive full tuition, books stipend, educational fees and other financial benefits. I attended a direct entry RN program with someone who switched from pediatric nurse practitioner to the family nurse practitioner program because the air force was willing to foot the bill.

Changing jobs too much??
I don't think it would hurt to go part time if you have the option. Remaining employed looks good on the resume and you can support your way through school. If acute care clinicals get in the way of work you can always change it up at that time.

NP Salary for PA, NJ, DE, MD Area
My husband just took a job at a pediatric hospital in PA as a an acute care PNP making approximately $90000 per year. I don't remember the exact figure as he initially worked in another department as an RN while waiting for credentialing to come through. They made up a very nice hourly rate for him based on what his salary is/would be regularly.

NICU RN relocating to Philly
I ended up taking a travel assignment at HUP. So far I enjoy the unit and the staff so much that I extended my contract. I only wish they had per diem positions. I'm still trying to decide whether to go staff in the area, keep searching for a per diem spot, or travel away from home intermittently.

Need help on Boston pay package
I did an assignment in Boston last year because a friend wanted to travel together and your contract quote sounds about right. The East coast generally pays lower than the West. Made half of what I normally make as a traveler in California.

How long did you stay at your first job?
8 years... I picked up an additional per diem job at a nearby hospital after 4 years. Worked NICU in both hospitals.

NICU RN relocating to Philly
I will be moving to Philadelphia within the next few months. Hubby just accepted a position as a PICU NP at CHOP. Any thoughts on level 3 NICUs in the area? I would like to work per diem in the city. I will very likely pick up a job on the side whether it be a travel spot in a nearby city/state or another per diem gig. I have worked at several children hospitals as staff and as a traveler. I have my MSN and CCRN. While I prefer to work solely in NICU, I have had my share of PICU and CVICU floating experience. Would love to hear recommendations on hospitals, units, and any relocation advice my fellow nurses might have.

RN Travel Companies, "Good, Bad and Ugly"
I worked with Aya in MA for a Boston assignment. Did not have a good experience with the company. Loved Boston. I have worked with Rise Medical Staffing (mainly west coast assignment availability), Fastaff and Medical Solutions over the years. Have enjoyed working with my recruiters at each of those companies.
