  1. Hi, In my hospital there is no IV team, only RN's who are certified or are apart of IV teams at other hospitals can do USGPIV. I wanted to ask if any of you know of any places around the Philly area to get certified?
  2. AH! Got ya! Thanks for the info!
  3. So to be a NP in an ER/ED setting, you have to have an FNP degree. From the descriptions of some of the FNP programs, it doesn't seem like they prepare you for an emergency/trauma setting. Nomadcrna, you are saying that you get the emergency medicine cert when you are a FNP and that is what prepares/teaches you about your role in the ER?
  4. Hi, I wanted to ask everyone what education they had for an NP that works in the ER. Also, I see there are many Adult Gerontology ACNP programs, but with that degree, what is the age limit you can treat if you are working in an ICU? Thank you for the help!
  5. Without being rude, I was wondering if anyone wanted to share what a new NP could be expecting for a salary in a acute care, hospital (ER, ICU, Cardiac) or similar setting. I know this is a bit of a personal topic, but wanted to get an idea of what an NP would be making.
  6. Thank you for the insight. It do feel like this is a subjective question, but I want to make the right decision. As of right now, I start nursing school at the end of the summer. I already have a BS in exercise science. I like the possibility of become a Anesthesia nurse too.
  7. Hi, I am currently trying to decide if going into PA school or nursing school with anticipation of becoming an NP is right for me. I need to be able to work a little bit through school and my GPA is not where it should be for PA school. However, it does meet requirements. My question for you folks is, what is the difference in scope of practice and abilities between a PA and an NP in the ICU/ER? Thank you for any insight you can give me!! Ben
