  1. Yes she did receive her registration and, this was done in October of last year. But i just don't want to take the risk
  2. I sent my papers in feb 21st and I'm still waiting too . However I had a friend who said she faxed her papers to the cno so I'm not totally sure about the original police check even though that's the one I sent in too
  3. This was hilarious! especially the male nurse in the sexy costume !
  4. I actually finished the RPN program and am bridging to RN. I have to say that this is the best route because now by working about 9 months before starting the bridge and then working 2 days a week I'm paying my tuition myself without relying on credit cards or student loans. Also, I think being an RPN first makes you a better rounded RN eventually because its almost like your working from the ground up. You get to see LTC facilities, home care, flu clinics etc. Also, I;m not sure about anyone else but i happen to think there are ALOT of jobs for RPN's out there (mostly because we are cheaper to hire than RN's) I recieved 4 offers of employment after graduation in the GTA. You just have to look and put your self out there. Good luck
  5. thanks for the answers everyone! :)
  6. Hi everyone, I have been searching for a while now and cannot seem to find the answer to my question. In the section of the CNO site called look up a nurse I see that some individuals have their employers listed and others don't. I was recently offered a job at a LTC facility, temporary casual and one at a hospital Permanent part time. I would prefer when my registration comes up that the hospital be my primary "contact" However, I do not start my hospital job and meet with HR for paper work until March 6 but start at the LTC facility MArch 1. How does this employer thing work? Is it recorded in order of the offer from the employer sent to the CNO or does the nurse report it herself? I am a new grad and waiting for my liscence to come....so I'm wondering Thanks, :)
  7. Im a new rpn so I really appreciated this post and it kinda made me feel better about my chances against other candidates ..... Especially those who wear their pajamas to an interview!
  8. I just became an rpn and am applying to bridge to RN this year
  9. Also Ive spoken to alot of admissions officers and they have said admission is strictly grades based bc I guess some people thought work hours or recommendation letters would help their cause
  10. I'm also applying to bridge this year. I graduated with almost a 4.0 and the admissions office said they have not accepted anyone with a gpa lower than 3.7 in the last 7 years at uoit. Many of my friends who want to also be RNs are just going back to school to redo courses they received low marks in to boost their gpa. It's very very competitive but best of luck! Uoit is my school of choice as the program is year round and u can finish about 6 months earlier than other programs
  11. No it came in one of those standard white envelopes you mail letters in. And the envelope was very thin with just 2 pieces of paper. Hope your comes soon!
  12. Hey everyone i PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in Mississauga Congratz to everyone!!!! And if you havent gotten your results just keep hope!!
  13. So basically the test is valid and no one can really blame failing on the change of format...too bad they did not say the percentage of students who passed the exam. Results will probably come this Monday fingers crossed
  14. Excellent article especially for a new nurse! thanks!
  15. Hey everyone i just got off the phone with CNO and they said that the exam results were mailed out TODAY!!! GOOD LUCK!
  16. Hi how do you know the results are coming this week? Did u call the cno... Because I was thinking of doing that.
  17. You are so lucky!!! I was so TIRED of those people when I was in school. and i swear many of them just made up stories because they were desperate to relate. I swear there was one girl who thorugh out the entire program probably metioned every friend, family member and individual she ever knew. I always wanted to tell her to shut up!....then I remembered my therapeutic communication techniques and used silence hahaha
  18. Never Give up!! Just keep applying and trying. You will make it, this might just be a test from the universe. BTW you are BRILLIANT to achieve a 4.0 in all your prerequisites. Maybe look into reclocating for school?
  19. hi everyone, i also took the cpnre for the first time 2 days ago. i found the questions challanging and there definitley was not enough time. before going into the exam i remember telling others i would probably be out in 2 hours or less and instead as another poster when the proctor said there was an hr left i was on question 180. those questions were tough, there was never a break. i used both the 3rd and 4rth edition prep guides reccommended but i also studied out of the nclex pn examination prep guide and the large green prep guide by mosby's.not to mention i did both the asi predictor tests. by the end of the exam i was so drained my eyes were watering and my head was pounding. i had also heard from others too that had taken the exam in september that it was easy and that it was the same as the prep guide but these questions were definitley harder. plus, i think sitting for 4 straight hours is a long time. by hour 3 i really wanted to get up and just stretch. and did anyone else notice how fast the time went???? it was like one minute it was 8:30 and the next their telling you you have 30 minutes left. fingers crossed that everyone passed! i think this exam was much harder as many more competencies have been assigned to the rpn in the last few years and we are able to do a ton of things with the right training. i've heard for the january exam the results sometimes come at 3 weeks since not that many students take the exam during this run due to school schedules. by the way i took th exam in hamilton and there were only like 100 other people in the room with me so there was tons of space in between us but i heard for those who took it in toronto it was brutal with over 1000 people in one room. imaging the noise as people leave..........
  20. Hey Everyone!! I was just wondering if you could give me some advice. I'm in the second semester of the RPN program in Toronto right now. I finished first semester with a gpa of 4.0 . Now that should be encouraging but its well known that the second semester of the program will make or break you. I know I can do it but everytime I dont get a skill right on I get really discouraged, start to panic and have a million scenerios run through my head of how I'm going to fail. I get depressed and really stressed and worried to the point where I have this pain in my head coming on. The last time this happened I practicing percussions for physical assessment and the instructor came around and said i was doing it extremley wrong and then within 5 seconds of talking to me said i went from a fail to a "pass" but not a good pass at only 60 percent (this was not graded but just an exercise) I got extremley discouraged. and now im worrying like crazy if this is a sign of things to come. I cant seem to stop the continous panic and worry if I dont get the skill the first time. Does anyone have any strategies for coping and moving the hell on?
