Slippery Rock university online RN-BSN
I had applied to SRU's RN to BSN and was accepted but then withdrew from the college due to a problem accessing online content. Spoke with their IT department about the issue, they said they'd fix it, but then never did. I somehow ended up with two different user accounts, one I could register for classes with and one I could access the online part with-but not vice-versa. Can you see the problem there? I had a hard time getting in touch with people and decided that wasn't what I wanted to deal with when getting a 100% online degree. I think my problem might have been unique though, not sure. The worst was when I tried calling back about the issues, I had my adviser tell me that perhaps the issue was user error, which it wasn't! Otherwise everyone I dealt with was very nice. I wish it would have worked out, you can't beat the price!

Good books for a beginning psych nurse?
Hi just wondering if anyone could recommend some good books that helped them as a mental health nurse. I have my psych textbooks & care planning books from school but just wondering if there is anything more out there. I don't have any needed area in particular but just in general. Looking around on Amazon all I see are textbooks or things more specific to nursing students. Also curious about mental health nursing journals-any you like more than others? Subscriptions are expensive, but I am thinking about subscribing to something, just not sure what yet. Thanks!

Kaplan-RN live online class
As the OP, I just wanted to say I just saved myself a ton of money - bought the Kaplan book for $25 along with LaCharity and Saunders and passed the boards in 75 questions. You don't need the expensive Kaplan courses to pass! I never saw any coupons for online Kaplan but I know some people in my nursing class got a discount on the in person Kaplan class through the school somehow. GL with studying!!

Has anyone taken on line course "NSCBN"?
Ok I passed my boards now I feel qualified to answer your questions, (:. The NCSBN online has about 1200 questions. I found it helpful but probably could have gotten by without it. NCSBN has more difficult questions than Saunders. I have not seen any mistakes, however the NCSBN rationales are hit or miss. Most explanations will say why one answer is right but won't say why the other answers are wrong. That's frustrating when you have two answers that could be right. Saunders rationales are way better. The review content is OK if you don't mind reviewing online. There are many links to online sources and some pictures. I preferred to study content from Saunders however.

Pass NCLEX recently without Kaplan?
I did not use use Kaplan program and I passed. I did spend $20 on the Kaplan 2010-2011 book and found that useful. All in all I probably spend about $100 on study materials, and I think I went overboard. I think you would be fine with the Kaplan book and Saunders. However the LaCharity book couldn't hurt. The key is to study content and do practice questions every day!

Working for the Indian Health Service
I'm also interested in working for the IHS. I've read just about all of the posts in this forum about working for them. Curious if anyone has any other thoughts on working for the IHS as a new grad. Feel free to PM me.

Has anyone taken on line course "NSCBN"?
Well it's true,Socal, that NCSBN does have good references and I have not come across any factual errors. However the answer rationales are lacking. Otherwise that questions are good. I plan on doing a more comprehensive review once I've taken my NCLEX and have some perspective and TIME. Godfather, I would get NCSBN for the test bank but the review part isn't that great. It's OK, I went through half of it, but there are just better sources out there. Saunders is the best as far as content review. I don't know anything about Davis 2010 but I heard it's good. Of course I still have to pass the test so take my reviews with a grain of salt:D

Has anyone taken on line course "NSCBN"?
Awesome!! Congrats!! I'm using NCSBN now (in addition to a few other sources) and have mixed feelings about it. I'll let you know how I feel about it once I take the NCLEX, lol

Did anyone hate nursing school?
I'd call my feelings about nursing school a love/hate relationship. LOL. One needs to make many sacrifices to make it through and it definitely puts a strain on family. However you can learn so much and there were many rewarding clinical experiences.

Philadelphia Area "New" RN: 30 applications rejected : When will my dream come true?
I think it's annoying that PA doesn't participate in the compact license agreement:uhoh3: but getting licensed in a compact state is not a bad idea.

Taking my nclex rn in 5 days....
good luck. I think you should relax the day before your test and get a good night's sleep (well try at least)!!

Isolation Precautions
I'm a little confused about that too. I read that the precautions are in addition to standard precautions, so you would at least have gloves in addition to particle mask for airborne. Then you would have gown, goggles, face shield as necessary if there is a potential for body fluid splash. I'm curious if you would automatically wear a gown for airborne or droplet precautions. I know you always wear gown and gloves for contact precaution.

Help preparing for nclex
I have about a week left and I am focusing on my weak areas, reading and doing questions. Good luck. I think everyone has a different way but just get a study guide and buckle down. I need to take my own advice because I'm spending way to much time on Allnurses reading up on the NCLEX posts lol.

How many questions are there on the NCSBN Learning Extension 3-week course?
I'm using it now. The questions are tough and make you think. However the rationales are not that good. It will say why the right answer is right but won't always tell you why the other answers are wrong. That can be bad when there are questions with two really good answers. I haven't taken my boards yet so I can't say how much it's helping me though.

I think I have too many study books...
That's a great idea, thanks caliotter!

I think I have too many study books...
My test date is three weeks away. I was studying with Saunders NCLEX review then switched to the review content of the NCSBN learning text course. So I do one content review module a day (got their 3 week course). I'm also trying to go over content from the Saunders & Davis book too, but haven't really been meeting my goals. Then I do test bank questions from Saunders, NCSBN, NCLEX 4000 and Davis NCLEX-RN and Lacharity...I feel like I am overdoing it..and my practice test scores aren't that good (ranges from 60's to 80's). I study for hours and hours every day. Any advice? Has anyone who used the NCSBN learning text course passed with solely using their content outlines and then doing practice questions? I'm so worried about failing...

For my resume: Am I an "RN Graduate" or "Graduate RN"?
well you are not technically a registered nurse until you pass your boards so graduate nurse might be a better term since you don't have a license yet. Are you getting you temporary practice permit?

I passed NCLEX RN at 95! PVT Works, too! Here are my tips:
congrats and thanks for the tips. I have Lacharity, but not the Davis book.
